So they are saying they want all of NZ to fund this, and suddenly their wording is that it becomes a national stadium for all NZ. They already had hundreds of millions of taxpayer funding to upgrade it for the RWC. Eden park is a dated turd of a ground imo. Wellington went through this over 25 years ago with its own version of Eden park, and decided a waterfront stadium connected to a transport hub was the best solution, and the build cost for the total stadium plus all the red tape was 120ish million funded solely by ratepayers and ticket levies. 25 years later I wonder what it would cost today to build. It has the potential to be used for far more events including being one of the largest ODI ground in NZ. I an guessing Eden parks reconfiguration will mean they may not use it for cricket, although it is a weird shape anyway
