FPA have been owned by Haier for over a decade.
The head office is still in East Tamaki. Their appliances are still designed and prototyped by Kiwi engineers in East Tamaki and Dunedin but are manufactured in Thailand and China in FPA factories.

Some of their fridges still use similar interior designs and parts from when they were still built in NZ. It is still my preferred brand for basic fridge freezers, although their energy efficiency don't appear to be as good as other brands.. They used to also have reversable doors, but they seem to have removed this feature on new models. SO you have to buy a L or R door model.

I had to replace my dishwasher because it was very slow, noisy and broke plates.  It was pretty good at minecraft though.  I think a F&P would be a far better dishwasher

Mostly happy Bosch series 6 owner. While it washers well and the cutlery draw is great, it's terrible at drying plastic. The series 9 had the Zeolith drying feature and I regret not spending a few hundred more for it.

Now I have to time the removal of plastic plates and containers perfectly - too short and it's wet - too long and it condensates and is wet.

We briefly had a old 2nd hand F&P double dish drawer, which dried plastic with its fan really well, but after two leaks onto our 2nd story wooden floor it was turfed out. A bad design allowed the machine to run when large plates prevented the top seal from fully seating.

Just to go against the grain

We have a 5 year old dish drawer at home it's been really good, zero issues. I don't think I'd want to go back to a traditional non drawer style where you can't have half going while half is empty/loading etc.

At work we have an old Bosch and it's a dog, probably not a series 6 though

Also note if you are using the all in one tablets they are basically snake oil, try a decent powder and rinse aid (like Active) if you actually want dry dishes and best cleaning, also significantly cheaper.

We have F & P dish drawers and are extremely happy with them and would replace with dish drawers in a heartbeat. They are such an excellent concept and work really well.
