Hi there, as the title suggests, I'm ordering a Zune HD (the 16GB model) from Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002JPITXY/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Its at an unbelievable price right now, $165.98USD which = $219.32NZ.
Shipping to NZ was $14US, plus a case and screen protectors made the total $182.70US ($241.41NZ plus conversion rate etc...) Compared with the 8GB iPod touch for $350NZ (thats what it was last time I looked anyway)

So has anyone brought a Zune from Amazon in the past? I'm going to place my order hopefully on Wednesday. I looked at heaps of videos about the Zune and it looks fantastic, but I'm here mainly to ask what Amazon is like? Because the only time we've brought from them is when mum got her kindle and that was done in NZD to begin with.

Thanks in advance,
- Sam

p.s. sorry if someone thinks this is link dropping, but its just such a good offer and if I'm asking you all for help/reviews, I might as well share it. Cheers.

What's Amazon like? Let me put it this way...

When I received a scratched DVD from them, they sent a replacement immediately, paid my return delivery to the US, and gave me a $50 gift certificate for my trouble.

Amazon is excellent :)

Amazon does not ships electronics outside US or are you buying the Zune HD off another 3rd pary store on amazon?

btw - Zune HD is fantastic. Have had one since launch in late 2009. Has an OLED screen and the UI is very nice. Also Zune software is miles ahead of itunes.

Amazon ships SOME electronics overseas. The Zune is one of them.

Also not all products are sold by Amazon, but by retailers using their platform. Buyers should read ALL information in the page. In this specific case the page says "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com".

This is important because it defines who you would deal with if something happened to your order.

Wow that shipping price is amazingly cheap. Whenever I have looked at shipping hardware (including ipod touch which is a similar size I would think) the shipping has been huge. Like ~$90 NZD. Hopefully this is a general trend.

I bought a new Roomba battery yesterday from Amazon at US$45 plus US$18 shipping. And it's not a small battery. Even with shipping the battery is still about a third of the local price.

Amazon is shipping more and more electronics overseas. That explains why some local retailers are pushing for GST to be charged in all imports. But even with GST it would still be cheaper anyway.

Ok thank you so much :) put my mind at rest. And yeh I read the whole page and noticed it said it was direct from Amazon.com, not those 3rd party sellers, which is the key reason buying from them. Will customs make me pay gst for it? Because I thought if they thought you were going to sell it off (ie its new in packaging etc...) they would make you pay gst before they release it? I could be wrong though.

Wow. Just had a look. The 32GB is under $300 shipped! But how does the Zune compare to the new iPod touch? 32GB is $500, but you get Facetime, retina display...

Depends on what operating system you're going to use it with; if I was using Windows I'd go for Zune but if you're with a Mac you're better off with an iPod.

The Zune software itself is second to none - easy to use, well designed etc. The exact opposite of what iTunes/QuickTime is like on Windows :D

I've been using the Zune desktop software instead of iTunes and the UI is just so smooth and flowing. Much like the UI on the Zune HD itself from what I've seen in videos. Very pleasing on the eye and very very fast.

I have a 32gb Zune HD and have been very happy with it. Though it gets very little use now I have Windows Phone 7. As far as buying from Amazon - I don't recall having had any issues. In fact I think my Zune HD came from Amazon and was shipped to a U.S. address. Nice to know that will ship some electronics to NZ now.

If someone was interested in my old 32gb Zune HD I'd probably sell it for a hot a price :)

On a side note, what do you guys think of this guy: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Feedback.aspx?member=3636812

He's the top bidder on my iPod at the moment ($230), and whenever I open the auctions it says hes won, the top of the page says it was sold to another member, but he still has feedback from them? Should I trust him? He lives in Manukau so if he can't pick up, I'll try do a drop off, just because I dont really think he looks trust worthy.
