My brother reckoned it went past the school, past their house and all the way down the road (nothing out that way) and they also went along sh3 to Patea and beyond.. Sounded like but fibre to me but guess they aren't that lucky!

The school has a fibre connection,

Their best bet is probably to talk to school and see if they are prepared to allow local community Wifi connections, and then look at a point to  point distrubutor, ( they might need to install a pole with a decent high aerial to allow connections to get past the shelter belts, but the terrain in the area seems resonably flat) 

If a few properties are interested, it would probably be the cheapest way of getting any decent capacity for services like video streaming at an acceptable on going price point....
