Am moving into a flat and we are looking at what broadband to get and we were looking at naked VDSL but want to know if we can avoid paying the wiring charge as we are only going to be there for 6 months, don't mind paying the cost of the modern.

Otherwise we will be going with ADSL.

Yes. My buddy thats a radio engineer explained it to me today, About how it screws with everyones lines to name one aspect.
Most ISP's will make you go under contract anyway.
One that doesnt require would be BigPipe.

If you don't get a master filter then connect modem to the master jack point and isolate the reset of the telephone house wiring from it

Highly recommended, however but not absolutely critical in apartment situations.
Lots of times with apartments the chorus tech will turn up, and then do nothing because there is nothing new to do.

Assuming you are going with bigpipe, you can just go without it and see how you go for the 10 day DLM. If your speed sucks after that, ask bigpipe and they can tell you what speed you should be able to get, vs what you might expect with a splitter, then you can decide if it's worth coughing up the cash.

Then there is always the chance that the person previously in the apartment meant had vdsl and there is already a filter there - in which case you definitely don't need a new one!

Thanks for the responses, fingers crossed the previous tenant has put one in he has just locked the door and moved to Aussie, otherwise will just disconnect the other jacks from the main one.

Will make a decision on Saturday when we get to look at the place, we won't be going with anyone that insists on a 12 month contract as we work in the ski industry and only live here half year and don't seem to manage get the same house every year.

The flat was with Vodafone last year and one of the tenants provided the adsl router so there was no term but we want to move up the world this year since we are in a vdsl area.
