Any idea what difference the external antenna has made? Got a very similar situation with the mobile tower, as we've got line of sight with a tower around 1km away, but just using the internal antenna on the B618 doesn't give us quite as impressive speeds as what you're getting (although I suspect the tower could be a tad on the oversubscribed side, as it used to be much faster).

Easy done the B818 has selectable Antenna settings
Here is usign antenna's

Internal antennas

Keep in mind the 4g Router (well in Bridge mode) is in a room with no window, room has an outside wall facing both towers, but wall/room is only 1m wide
Also note the router is set to use Bands 3+28, using band 3 as per above picture
Router still in 4g+mode but at time of test had SNIR -2db vs abut 12db normally
I would not have router here if I didn't have the antenna
Another option that worked well was the suction cup antenna we used in our rental house while house was getting rebuilt
698-960/1710-2700/3300-3800MHZ 5G INDOOR DUAL POLARITY CELLULAR ANTENNA
Tempted to try this antenna to see what it can do as I can point this directly at tower 350m away, possibly without too much bending of things also other tower, as a windows in garage beside my server room I can stick it to

Moving B818 out to garage in the window facing East to both towers
Longer LAN cable running to ER4 doing the routing, B818 in Bridge mode

Indoor Dual Polarity (stick to window) antenna with bracket bent round and stuck to outside of window pointing at 21km away Tower (for better results) closer tower is just a few deg to the left
Mixed Antenna setting
Antenna 1 - External
Antenna 2 - Internal

Internal antenna's (internal to B818 not indoors :) )

External Antenna's

B818 in 4g+ mode on Band 3 +28 using 3 as main link(s), took quite some fiddling for this to work with sucton antenna, as signal strength visibly lower
