After I noticed on Voyager's website the free speed upgrade appears to finish at the end of the year, I contacted them.

Their response FYI

"Thank you for contacting us about this.

The 200/20 upgrade offer applies to all customers who are on an Enable circuit (within Canterbury). Enable Networks had a plan for the Christchurch Fibre development and they exceeded their goals well in advance of their planned dates/times. Because of this, they offered all Canterbury providers discounted rates on their 200/20 plans. This offer finishes on December 31st, 2019.

We will likely have a newsletter sent to our Christchurch customers on the 200/20 plan indicating that the price may increase at the end of the promotional period. Closer to the end of the promotion, you will likely get the chance to choose which plan/price you would like to stay on ($79 for 100/20 or $99 for 200/20 - the standard price for 200/20 connections). However, this has not been confirmed yet. Ideally, we'd recommend keeping an eye out for correspondences from our media team 30, 60 or 90 days prior to the end of the promotion for more details."

I've been very happy with Voyager so far(switched to them as the free speed upgrade kicked in) but for $99 I can get Gigabit elsewhere...

That's one price increase I wont have to worry about with Vodafone because they have never passed it on.

Dam. One of the reasons I switched to 2degrees, Spark wouldn’t offer it. If knew it was only for a year what’s the point. Price was the other reason but Spark has made headway’s there for anyone that uses Netflix.

Back to 100/20 then and I’ll make a decision once Prime free period has ended, as not sure if they’ll extend it.

The Chorus upgrade of 30/10 to 50/10 is a peramenant offer? Not that people get a choice of fibre company’s.

This was one of the risks of taking up that offer....

I thought enable would hold it for longer though....

You reckon maybe Voyager have jumped the gun on the announcement?

Considering Enable were part of the group which complained to the ComCom about Vodafone's FibreX marketing, now that it is called 'Ultrafast HFC' maybe they feel they no longer have to compete with their 200/20 entry level offering.

Hi everyone,

Enable currently do not have a defined time for the free upgrade to end. It was intended to run through to 31 December 2019, however we may look to extend this - watch this space!

Thanks,

The Enable team

I moved to 2D recently and had to call tech support to change the profile from their end.Took less than 10 mins for them to sort it out.
