There's plenty of them on reputable (read not parallel importers) online sellers. Ive not got one so cant confirm at all if they are approved. Though their availability suggests, to me at least, they would be.

To clarify, chorus doesnt have a monopoly on vdsl technology in NZ - telepermitting is only a chorus thing.

Netcomm is junk - their wifi range is really bad.

I highly recommend tplink for good wifi range and a good vdsl interface.

Do they have a phone line? It might be an idea to just run a new cable from the demarcation point to the VDSL jack and disconnect the old telephone reticulation that is no longer used.

Actually, the Telepermit thing was originally done by Telecom (and maybe by Spark as well now, but not sure on that one) - I don't believe Chorus have anything to do with it.

I'm on rural VDSL and use a Draytek 2760 bridged to a Mikrotik. A Draytek 130 is also fine. Just make sure you are running the latest firmware.

Netcomm are a pain in the rear.

Draytek modem bridged to a Mikrotik. Models DV130, DV167 or DV2762.

It will cost a few bucks (price of this gear has increased this year) but this is the gold standard.

DV130 is pretty cheap used. Just upgrade it with the latest firmware which supports G.INP and G.Vector.

The NF18ACV gets 25/2 sync with an ELT distance of 1800M and 29dbm

the wifi is rubbish tho so just use it as a bridge
