Got a free 1 port RTA1320 yesterday when I changed to slingshot. But whenever I try bittorrent on it it would freez up after about 5~10 minutes. Is that a common problem?

If it crashes due to the meager router cpu overloaded with the connections (less then 50) I have a wrt54g that I'm only using as wifi AP that can do the routing. Thing is I don't know how to set them both so that if the wrt is the DHCP server, not the RTA1320 and it acts just as a modem, tryed the relay thing in the RTA1320 but it doesn't seem to work. What else do I need? Gateway settings? Advanced routing table?

Don't really want to revert back to the old featureless connexant modem-router I was using before since i need the dynamic DNS of the RTA1320.

What firmware are you running in the router? Linksys or 3rd party? The issue of the router locking up with P2P traffic is a known problem with this router running various versions of firmware but it can be overcome with the correct settings. It's just a matter of knowing what firmware you are using.

The WRT54G runs on the latest HyperWRT G Thibor15b3.
RTA1320 runs stock firmware.

HyperWRT is the only 3rd party firmware I haven't played with. I personally use and recommend DD-WRT.

Have a look for a setting for IP Filter Settings, this is probably under Administration|Management and write down the settings for Maximum Ports, TCP timeout and UDP timeout. Change these to 4096 for ports and around 600 each for TCP timeout and UDP timeout. Hopefully this should fix your problems!

would that be the wrt54g? because the main issue here is that the rta1320 crashes constantly.

Ahh.. I just assumed without reading your message properly that it was the WRT54g crashing since it's a known issue with many brands of routers and P2P software. I suspect the modem is suffering from a similair problem!

After looking through the net it appears that flashing the rta with older firmwares solves the problem.

Catch is I can't find old firmwares any where.

hi, i suffer from the same problem this RTA1320 freezes up when i use bitcommet in 10 min
what i have done was to disable the router firewall and now it freezes in 2 hours ;)))
so if someone could help I will appreciate it
i went trough the previuos posts but couldnt find the settings u guys are talking about
where are this timeout and number of connection settings?
something else i would like to share is that slingshot (my provider) is totally crap
phone help and live chat help - both useless
right now i totally regret i am with them
the max speed of 3.5 Mb/s for which i pay is available only monday morning  from 05 to 06 PM (not 100% sure)
the free router (worth 99$??!??) is piece of crap, market price not more the 20$
and so on and so one - the moral is slingshot really sucks

Right now I have managed to set it up as a modem only. Set the RTA1320 to PPP IP forward and connect it to the WAN port of a more capable router like WRT54G.

The problem after some trial and error seems to be the Upnp in the router, disabling it and use manual port forwarding stoped the crashing. Of course I don't even do that now that it's the WRT54G that does the NAT.

As for slingshots connection: got 20 extra ping which isn't good for games but bandwidth wise I have always managed to get at least 2mbs so I would say it 's just your exchange.

http://www.quagga.net/ ?

It does routing protocols, is that what you want?

Edit: Sorry, reading the whole thread I realise Quagga won't help you.
