Current sytem:

- Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0GHz 4MB L2 Cache Dual-Core Processor
- Kingston 2gb DDRII 800MHz Dual-Channel Memory
- Asus P5K SE Intel P35/ICH9 Chipset Motherboard
- XFX nVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB XXX Factory Overclocked Graphics Adaptor
- Western Digital 500GB 16MB Cache SATA2 Hard Disk Drive
- LiteOn 20x SATA Dual Layer DVDRW Drive
- Raidmax Ninja Gaming Tower Chassis

- 8 Channel High Definition Audio
- Gigabit High Speed Network
- External SATA Connector
- 2 x 12cm, 1 x 8cm System Coolers
- 8 x USB 2.0 Connectors

So my plan is to add another 2gb kingston DDRII 800MHz Dual Channel memory
add a sound as i only have onboard audio
and add another 500gb harddrive
and get a 22" moniter

Whats the top sound card at the mo that would be compatable?

The Creative X-Fi Extreme Gamer would be a good choice.

I hear the Creative X-Fi series ain't too bad, especially the Fatal1ty models designed for gamers.  However, the Creative drivers for Vista are still what I consider to be a work in progress.  My Audigy card crackles on occasion and I've seen a number of forums discussing this.

Another thing to consider is what type of speaker system you're plugging into.  If you only have a 2.1 system, there's no point splashing out on a 7.1, full "bells and whistles" card Smile

Sounds like you're good to go.  Just remember to set your sound card to 5.1 output.

Looks like my card's only "compatible" with Vista, not certified - could explain some of the sound issues I've been having.  Methinks I may need to go shopping too. Laughing
