I have been lent this for the weekend to watch movies that are on it. When I connect to my PC I have to go to device manager to find it. This says the device is working properly. But I cannot view files. The driver is up to date. It says I have no access to the device. I spoke to my friend (who knows even less than I about tech things). He says he just downloads from his PC and then plugs it into his TV and watches movies. He says he has not set up a password and I am not given an opportunity to use one anyway. The Samsung TV and DVD players don't recognise it either. Is there anything I can do this weekend? Help please and thank you.
Maybe it has certain permisssions set , i think sometimes the default users pc is set as total usage and other people get less access unless the owner sets it as open to everyone.Right click on the hard drive and check permissions under the securty tab
I have had this happen in the past
Nexus 5X Magic TV 3600 Sony EX700
Unblocking service Amazon Fire TV x 2 = Netflix USA + Amazon Prime Lightbox
It is drive Q. When I look at the security tab it says You do not have permission to view this objects security settings. Try taking ownership. In the space for current owner it says, unable to display current owner.
Hi @YvonneW, sorry to hear about your problem with the PC there. Try to follow the advice given here, http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-security/you-do-not-have-permission-to-view-this-objects/5939dbf4-ca81-4f14-b455-ede115af924e
Hope this helps. Cheers! :)
