I have recently acquired a Dell Precision 690 server, and was wondering if it was worth anything. I know absolutely nothing about server computers or OSes, so I thought I'd ask here.
It has:
2x Xeon X5355 @2.66
4x 1 GB of DDR2 RAM

I can probably find out more specs if needed.

Frankly, the thing is huge, heavy, and as loud as a vacuum cleaner, and I just want to get rid of it, but I have no idea if it is worth my time putting it on Trademe or similar with the specs above.

I had it running briefly a year or so ago. Now, it posts, but is giving beep codes that I frankly don't care enough about to research.

Any thoughts?

With those specs it's worth more in scrap metal than it is as a server, That's before considering power use.

Thanks for the input guys - I have no interest in trying to resurrect it into anything useful to be honest. I'll put it on Trademe and see if I can get someone to take it off my hands.

Good luck!   It may well appeal to a person who collects unusual computers.  It certainly looks impressive & probably cost big $$$ when new.

Reviews from 2007 or so were very complimentary. It was worth quite a bit back then, but now... not so much by the looks of it.
