We have a Samsung i325 Smartphone here which has taken on a life of its own lately and before I give him permission to purchase an E71/E75 I want to ask if the issues hes having can be fixed.

1. Cant turn the voice dialing off. Voice dialing is awesome and all, but when we're talking about people, his phone starts calling them. This can end up being rather costly in calls.

2. Its decided to randomly choose which day and time to operate on. This morning it decided to move into daylight savings and at 9am, it was telling us it was 11:40am yesterday.

I don't know what version of winmo hes running on it or if he has upgraded the OS/run updates etc, so clutching at a few straws here. Would love to hear some feedback.

First a couple or questions:

Is it a Telecom version? (Don't think they were ever sold on VF but not sure)
Is it within warranty?

From my experience the 2 most likely causes of issues like that could be software issue or liquid damage. Hopefully the owner will know if it has been wet (and be honest about it!). If it has been wet, then its a lost cause and replace it. However, if not, a software reflash would be your best option. If it is not running the latest WinMo version it can support (not sure what version that model can take) then maybe try upgrading it. Otherwise, send it away to be done. If it is within warranty, that will *probably* be free.

This is a CDMA device so it was never sold by Vodafone.

The date time problem is easy: you have the wrong locale selected for you device and it is using the North American DST rules.

With regards to Voice dialling, according to the manual it can be deactivated. Try going to Start, More, Voice Command. There should be options in there to turn it off.

We tried deactivating the voice dialling, but it turned itself back on. We tried updating the OS on it and it still decided it was the wrong time/day even after updating the settings to the right timezone etc.

Not sure about water damage. But decided to negotiate with telecom and had it replaced with an HTC Touch Pro2. I think we win out of that deal. The Samsung has gone and is no longer randomly dialling...
