I have a i5 2500k , ati 6970 and 4gig of ram. Running two SSD(dont need upgrading) on windows 10

I played rust last night and my 6970 was running on full fan making a huge noise annoying the wife.

Any recommendations. Budget 1350.

Just after cpu/mb/ram/gpu

Probably just get something like an Nvidia GTX970 card + 4-8GB extra RAM (depending on cost).

It would be helpful to know what games you are running+resolution+settings you expect.

sounds like its just your GFX that's the issue. why not just throw a GTX 970 in it and see how that goes before spending money upgrading everything else?

2500k is a great CPU, especially if OC'd. Assuming you'er working to a budget and not just feeling like throwing lots of money at it, best bang for you're buck is a decent GPU (970 starting point, go upwards if you can afford it) and a minimum of 8gb total RAM.

it will save you a bit of $$ and you might find you don't need to upgrade the CPU and Motherboard just yet. if you do need to upgrade its a pretty straight forward process.

Second Law of Thermodynamics - OK it's not a law - but leaving fridge open won't work.

I would suggest a GTX970/980 and 16GB of ram, try ripjaws or vengeance, (both seem to like intel)
A 2500K is all the power you need, Wouldnt even bother overclocking currently unless you get a H100 or something.

the GTX960 is ok but if you want a trouble free 1080p experience you will probably need the 970.

the first combo you listed is complete overkill

Umm ... the fan is supposed to make noise ... because the GPU is hot. Getting another one will end up with the fan blasting. Because that's what the fan is made to do.

Umm you can do that, but the fans will still blast.

It will work if the back of the fridge it outside and the front is inside, and the doorway is sealed, and you put a little fan in the fridge to blow the cold air out. That'd pretty much be an ugly version of a window air conditioner you see on US TV shows.

Was hoping a later model graphics card wouldnt need to blast as much? The 6970 was running at 90 deg c
