I used Microsoft Points, so it's all good. It's downloading now. I already have AoE III on DVD though, so just wanted to download an electronic version for backup.

But here is my question then: where is it downloaded to? Or is it like Steam, download and install?

I never bought anything from the Games for Windows Marketplace before...

chiefie: I read over the weekend. BioShock is 99cents, pretty sure that's in US Dollar too.

http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-CA/Games/BioShock/ - 1.99 off special now :)

They had Borderlands on last week for $7.49 too! and for the same price:
GTA4
Batman

Oh well, have to start watching this site now!!

Bit like Steam - which I definately prefer, but for 10c I'm willing to put up with GFWL!

The files are downloaded to a temporary directory before they are installed - on my windows 7 box it is under C:\Users\<my profile>\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\GFWLive\Install\.  Once you install the game the files disappear - not sure whether backing up these files work, though.  The system isn't as robust as Steam in terms of being able to backup files.

The $2 Bioshock offer over the weekend did seem to be US-only, though it is only $2.95 in the marketplace app at the moment.

To answer my own question: it's a download of .cab files that then must be installed - not a DVD image or something like that.

Downloaded and installed 3.4 GB in under 50 minutes...

Price updates to $29.95 once it is in the checkout - either the deal was only for the weekend, or it was US-only (unlike the AOE III deal). Pity.  Have Bioshock on XBOX 360 but could probably justify $2.95 for the ability to play on my laptop!

I've seen $1 or $2 been charged on credit cards which then have been refunded. It's like a temporary fee (who knows what for) so hopefully you will get it refunded.

The marketplace client is a pain to use (ever heard of search??!?!) but seems like some great deals going.

It is poor for MS to forget/exclude this...

Using slingsh!t i downloaded age of empires 3 and installed in ~1 hour.. surely it must have been faster for whatever you got, to download??

You have been pushing the boundaries for too long, and have been warned far too many times for some of your posts in the forums.

So I must say, good day to you sir.

Saw Major Nelson post it on Twitter yesterday but couldn't buy it through the web one. Trying with the client now.

It's in the GFW client. Go to downloads & click on Game: Age of Empires III. Then click on View Game Key

Very strange. Try closing the GFW client & opening it again. I had to do that to get my key assigned.
