My brother brought a capture device for his xbox, and it doesnt come with a splitter. So right now its:

xbox > Box > Computer

He needs to be able to see the tv screen while he records, so we need it to be:

xbox > Splitter > Box > Computer
                      > TV

Where can I get a splitter/box/adapter that has 1 AV in and 2 AV outs? Something that would do like:

xbox > box > TV1
 > TV2

I hope you understand what I'm trying to do.

I can get AV extension cables and stuff, we have one of those lying around somewhere.
I don't mind buying it online but in a retail store (dse or something) would be preferable, although I looked on DSE's website and couldnt seem to find anything like I was looking for. Cheers GZ'ers.

Try Y adapters before you get a splitter. I have some old stock from a friends webstore I can post to you if you want to give them a shot - look like these -

http://jaycar.co.nz/productView.asp?ID=PA3560&keywords=rca&form=KEYWORD

Except I think we paid 1/10th that for a 4 pack of them.

DM address and I can drop some in the mail tomorrrow.

What type of output are you using?

The easiest is composite something like this will work

http://www.jaycar.co.nz/productView.asp?ID=AC1646

But nobody uses composite any longer because of the terrible quality.

Would that work? It'd need to be female in with 2 male out.

Xbox output is a male connector, TV input is female, the device I'm trying to also connect is also a female input.

Do they have Y splitters that have a female input, and 2 male output?

Plug it into the input of the recorder or TV and then use another set of RCA cables to the other device.

I thought it would split what was coming from the male connector out between the two famale ones?

No, they just are all connected together, not like an RF splitter which has to match impedance. While in theory the impedance matters for the video side, it doesnt really with short cables that are not even 75 ohms like almost every cheap RCA cable, and the loss of the mismatch is usually taken care of with the AGC in the inputs of video devices since they have to deal with a variety of levels anyway.

That is pretty common in the xbox / ps3 world...

I use to do it, but then upgraded to a hdpvr...

Theres 2 ways to do it... (This is assuming that you are capturing from AV/Composite)

1st way...
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Electronics-photography/TVs/Cables-aerials/auction-347043519.htm
This auction is perfect because it comes with the amount you need...
They even sell them at those 2 / 5 dollar shops..

And you will need 3 av cables.. Plug the xbox into all 3 single female sides, and use an av cable each to go to the TV and Capture card..

2nd way (Which is what I would prefer if you can do it)
All you need is a extra AV cable, which you say you got..

Plug the xbox to the TV direct, and then use the "TV out" straight to the capture card...
Most TV's I know can do this.. I got like a 6 year old TV that can do it lol

Its not just Sony, I grabbed a Panasonic Freeview|HD Blu ray recorder over the New Year, and guess what I found in the box with the remote, you guessed it, a sole Yellow, Red, White cord, that to be honest is only really useful as twine to hold the rubbish bag shut...

Hey, did you get those adapters? I looked up the order I put in for them but my business partner deleted it because he thought it was a test one, and I dont know if it shipped or not.
