blakamin: Aw, Not fair! this game wont run on my 486dx33!

It ran sweet on our dx4 100. I still have the PC General badge on my current machine ;)

As to DNF I got stuck on the first level. No matter how fast I tried to hit the spacebar I couldn't rip out the cycloid's wishbone thing. I thought it might have been a bug, but I see threads whereby other people also just couldn't hit spacebar fast enough. I haven't had the chance to pay since! Should be able to sneak in a coupe of hours tonight.

I checked my CDwow account yesterday to see if id had it sent to work or home (home means i may have gotten it yesterday)

However I saw that my order has gone from 'pre order' to 'back order'.....sigh....I wouldnt have ordered it from then if id know that was going to happen.

My flatmate got a copy of it, and ive been playing it

Humor - crude
Comments towards women - crude
comments about aliens - lame
Ability to put rat in the microwave - awesome

Love it, pretty much what i was expecting and hoping for.
Its taken the serious edge off games that call of duty and battlefield have these days.

Didnt have any problems with the space bar issue. played it for about an hour (tho may have been 2) and there was a heap of doors and gates that needed 'hit spacebar repeatedly' and they all went fine

I'm loving this game, despite the fact I couldn't play it immediately on friday night due to that accursed download. After that dissapointment however, I regressed right back to the 90's playing the original.

The game play is plain fun because it's quirky. Completing the fast food kitchen whilst shrunk is a classic example. Pig Cops shooting and throwing jars of condiments at you, traverse the hotplate by way of burger buns, all to save the girl ofcourse who has interesting ideas on what to do with you whilst you're still that size...

This is not Crysis or even Half Life 2 in terms of graphics. There seem to be a lot of negative reviews in that sense, but it's more than good enough for me on PC.

Most fun I've had in an FPS in a long time, fun being the operative word.

Edit: btw, no problem with the space bar for me either. Just tap it consistently in terms of speed, it doesn't have to be a speed race either, like 4-6 times per second.

Had the same issue with the install.

Message pops up about servers not responding then it starts downloading. Just cancel and delete the game from steam, then reinstall from disk again and it installs fine.

Overall its a good game, but don't expect it to be the next Halo (or whatever). MP seems fun but 95% of the time no servers show up in the browser. Although I've heard its pretty bad on console.

Is there still the 400mb update to download tho?

Yes, there's still a 400MB patch to download though.

Sometimes steam gets itself in a bit of a tiz with installers, the same happened with dawn of war: retribution for me. I simply halted the steam download, reinstalled from the supplied media then let steam patch up any final patches after that.

DNF installed fine however here. :)

Back in the day it was Duke Nukem and Quake, they both came out the same time. I played DN right through then never went back. I clocked Quake about 10 times over and that was just the single player. Multi player I was there for years not online but lan matches with mates, which caused many arguments and one or two punch ups. Fun!

Ragnor: At the end of the day you can always amuse yourself by listening to this Megadeth version of the Duke Nukem theme on repeat...

+1 - awesome version!

I think you can buy it cheaper online. This place has it for $37.49 USD

Good to hear the short reviews here, all the other reviews i have been reading sound like they are coming from people who have never played a duke game, cant handle a joke, obsessed with graphics (graphics have never made a good game in my book) and probably aren't even old enough to legally buy the game in the first place. I will definitely be getting DNF bad press aside, loved 3d and anything else Duke Nukem

It's a really good game, however it does not stand up to call of Duty etc.. but that's not the point. It's made to bring back the good old memories we had of Duke Nukem back in the day.

I'm loving it... Big fan of Duke Nukem

Yep, only buy for the nostalgia factor.

The enemies arent smart, the graphics arent anywhere near any of the battlefield series, the gameplay is linear and boring (so far) Im only in it for the memories, the quotes and the chicks.

Thats reason enough. :-)
