What was the printers reported IP address?

Also what is your computers IP address? Click system preferences->network->(wifi) advanced->tcp/ip

Gooseybhai: On the mac, make sure printer sharing is enabled and anything else relevant in the printer settings menu.

You should only activate printer sharing if the printer is connected directly to a single computer (say by USB), and you wish to share this printer across the network for other computers to use.

Getting back to the very basics, is this how the printer is connected to the network?

If not, how?

Give the printer a static IP outside the DHCP range i.e. 192.168.1.200
Make sure your subnet and gateway are correct
You should now be able to get the web page by typing in 192.168.1.200 into internet explorer.
If you get it, you are all go.
If not, check that you are actually connected.
I have done possibly 100's of brother network printer installs, I have only had 2 with problems, one we had to change the modem from a dlink to a TP link and it worked ( Dont know why as the modem seems fine ) the other we had to change the modem to one with a better range ( they had a large house and only one wireless access point ) and this resolved the issue i.e. needed really good signal.
Cheers
John

I've finally got it working. I refreshed everything and ran the installation again (using a USB connection for the wireless set-up) and it worked just fine. Relief Cool

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, and your willingness to help a bunny.

Good result !

You will find the brother application will sometimes fail.. A simple "force quit" or reboot will fix it.
Quite often when I print, the brother app will load up (brother app being the printer status monitor) and although its looking fine and dandy it's not doing anything. Same when trying to scan... it reports an error and a simply force quit and reload of the brother app is all that is required.
