Hi All,

I have just purchased an Edge Router 4, I am planning on upgrading my whole network so I will have the edge router 4 with a switch and two access points.

For the next month or so I will only have the edge router 4 (issues with funds..) so I am wanting to set the router up and use the Vodafone ultra hub as a switch/access point. Is this possible?

Its a bit piecemeal but allows me to upgrade as I can until I have a decent network.

Any other ideas and advice will be much appreciated.

It should be possible, although better to have a dedicated access point.

You will need to get into the management system of the UltraHub and disable DHCP on the LAN. If possible, also set its LAN IP address to something unused within your LAN subnet.

Once that’s done, you should be able to plug the Edgerouter and UltraHub together LAN port to LAN port and access your network through the wireless and wired LAN ports on the UltraHub. The WAN port on the UltraHub will remain unused.

I think that’s it, but note that I’ve never personally used the UltraHub.

Thanks for that. I have managed to stretch the budget out and get a managed switch so now ill just need to use the vodafone ultra hub for WiFi until I can grab an access point.

Got it working but the vodafone router needed to be on a seperate VLAN for some reason just plugging it into the switch kills internet access on all other ports.

It should be fine for now. For anyone that’s thinking about getting one do it the edge router 4 is amazing
