A few months ago I built a computer using an Asus P5N-E SLI mobo, and Vista Premium. Since then, I've been experiencing problems with internet (I'm with Xnet broadband and have a D-Link DSL G604T router). Often, when I boot up the computer it will connect to my home network but not the internet; I have to Diagnose and Repair, and select "Reset Local Network Adapter".
Today, when I tried this, it took much longer than usual and instead of working, it left the network symbol as black with a red X, and I couldn't even connect to my home network. I'm thinking it's the network adapter being faulty, I've heard that the adapters on nVidia chipsets aren't very good, so would buying a PCI network card fix my problems? It's not a problem with the router either, as I'm currently using the other computer in the network.
If I need to buy a network card, will just any generic gigabit ethernet card do?
