If you change your home address in Google home to a USA one, does that give you more options for the Home?

@nurcopolics Please don't post 4x in a row... You can edit your own posts if something springs to mind.

nurcopolics: How do you change country? Mines in a British accent...

Not near my GH...so this is a little bit from memory.  You set the language for it (see https://support.google.com/googlehome/answer/7124515?hl=en).  Ive only tried UK and US English - preferred the US English voice. I imagine there is an AU English now that its available in Australia.

There are 6 languages.

English Australia

English Canada

English UK

English US

Francais Canada

Francais France

Mine is set to UK since they have "Actions" now. They connect to Harmony and Stringify... Which was only available in US until yesterday.

Just got mine today and I'm disappointed on two fronts, both of which MIGHT be addressable..

- "Hey Google, ask Harmoney to turn on the TV" is bad compared to "Alexa, turn on the TV"

- Google seem to have broken HABridge (emulated HUE) by enforcing a HUE portal login instead of talking to a local HUE server... There might be a way around this but I haven't found it yet.

The speaker is also incredibly boomy compared to the Amazon Echo - EASY and big win there for Amazon..

Cheers - N

I have "shortcuts" set up for that.

I've heard about the Hue emulation HAbridge issue... Haven't looked into it tho as I have a Hue bridge.

I got around the HABridge problem by following the instructions in this post

https://github.com/bwssytems/ha-bridge/issues/572

The post from Vulcan96. It took me a few times but finally it worked. And interestingly once GH software was updated to the latest version, it still works.

But for the problem is, GH cannot see both the HABridge and a real Philips Hue Bridge I have. So I cannot control Hue bulbs with it. If I reset GH it finds the Philips Hue bulbs but not HABridge. If you don't have Hue bulbs then this fix is for you. For me, I am going back to the Amazon Dot for HA and using GH for information and music.

Thanks for the link but I don't have that sort of time... Sheeesh. I guess I'm keeping my Echo instead.

Seems like there's an obsession in home automation in changing things so often that ecosystems can't work together easily at all.

Maybe I should go back to oil lamps :-)

You might like this one guys.
On android, download GPS faker. Install. Now set it your location to USA.
Open Google home app. Sign in to Pandora on the Google home. Also your own Google music is now able to be played, no monthly fee.
Enjoy!

Ps once you close GPS faker you'll lose these operations. Simply install it on an unused Android and enjoy your home so much more...

Just had my Google Home arrive the other day. From what I've read Multi-user support is now available with the option to train to your voice - but it doesn't seem to be presenting the option in the app?

Anyone had any experience with it, or tricks to enable it? Does it need to set the device location to Australia etc to get the option?

Thx.

From memory, you need to change the phones language to one that is supported (US, AU, UK etc) so that the option shows up in the Home app. This has to be done on each phone (account) you wish to add.

I've had a GH for a few days now and found that IFTTT, Google Assistant and Harmony integration is faster and better than standard Google Home and Harmony integration.  I don't have to ask Harmony to do anything I can just say turn on the TV.

I'm still getting a feel for it's capabilities.

@redwingNZ once it's linked does the language have to stay set, or can it be changed back after? Will have to try it tonight.

I havnt tried. Im using two languages on my S7. US and NZ and it seems happy with that.

On my wifes iPhone I had to switch hers to get it to show up, AU probably. Shes not picky so I haven't fiddled past that and getting it working.

Or you can just use shortcuts and leave IFTTT out of the equation entirely.
