Some time ago I bought a new Android TV box. There were things I didn't like about it but it seemed to work well enough. Support from nvidia for questions I had was excellent, better than anything I have experienced elsewhere. Immediate and full responses via chat from people who actually seem to know what they are talking about.

 

Then I discovered that the remote was chewing through batteries. From comments of others this may be a common issue. I'm not certain.

 

In any case, I again received excellent support  from nvidia via chat. After some initial questions I was given a warranty return approval and prepaid Fedex courier labels to print out. Again, far and away the best support I have ever had from any outfit anywhere. Really top notch.

 

The only problem with this is Fedex. I am an older private citizen and have never had to deal with shipping things. I am finding the whole process with all the different commercial documents I have had to print out confusing. The biggest problem is that the Fedex site only shows drop-off points in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. I am in Hastings. I have no idea how I am supposed to ship the package. I have no idea how I am supposed to come by the shipping 'pouches' referred to in the instructions.

 

I rang the Fedex number and the person I talked to said she would get back to me on Monday. I found that a bit odd but okay. I guess the 24/7 economy has not yet reached Fedex in New Zealand. I am still confused, though and I am getting concerned by the time deadline nvidia has placed on the shipping. 

 

What I don't understand is why nvidia support, which is so outstanding in every other regard, uses a return system that is so confusing and complicated. This is obviously geared to big commercial shipments. It should not be used for a simple warranty return. It makes something that should be simple unnecessarily involved. 

 

Anyway, does anyone know if Fedex has a local agent in Hastings or Napier?  Fedex doesn't seem to know and I would really like to get this thing on its way tomorrow. I don't have high confidence that I will hear from the Fedex person who promised to get back to me. It all seems a bit strange.

 

tl;dr: nvidia customer support is fantastic. Fedex is a PITA.
