Finally got my quest 2 yesterday, 2 hours after the iPhone 12 Pro arrived. lol It was like Christmas Day for me.

I think the soft strap feels quite comfortable. I guess it really depends on the person. but I would probably wait to see if Facebook address this issue with the elite strap before I order mine too.

Did you manage to get some straps? If your not going to rent them I would love to purchase one from you? I'm getting headaches using the cloth strap after only a few minutes that I never got with Rift S.

Ah sorry I should have worded that better, I'll use the cloth straps for rentals in the next few days but I'd hope within a week Oculus would have announced something about the straps and if they're safe to use and not all recalled, I'll switch to using those. Unfortunately I'd just ordered enough straps for these units I'm afraid :(

This might not be of interest but just in case, to throw it out there as an idea; If you happen to have access to a 3D printer or know someone who does, you might find a FrankenQuest 2 appealing. Basically it takes the Vive's Deluxe Audio Strap (avaliable on Ebay) and with a 3D printed adpater, it attaches to the Quest 2. Along with a fantastic headstrap, it features built-in headphones.

The 3D printer design is at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4622970/makes

There's plenty of photos here of how the final result looks, along with a link to a company who prints and sells the adapters: https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/comments/j5gkjc/frankenquest_2_kit/

Just to add, it looks like other straps are avaliable from Amazon too, such as this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08729HK1J

Got mine the other day.  Pretty impressive toy.  I'd briefly tried the Quest 1 last year, and the step up in resolution is definitely noticeable.

Just managed to get Star Wars Squadrons up and running over virtual desktop.  It'll be hard to go back to a 2d screen.  Am waiting on a usb cable from Ali Express -- couldn't stomach the Oculus link price.  But i have a feeling installing a Wifi 6 wireless card into my PC and running Virtual Desktop via a Wifi Hotspot running directly on the PC may be a better solution.  There is something special about not needing any tether.

I impulsively ordered one of these last night.  Should arrive in about 10 days I'm told.  That should hold me over until my Reverb G2 arrives....which seems to be pushed out another few days at a time every time I check.  Currently looking like early new year.

I pre-bought Vader Immortal last night.  Well, the first two episodes and then my card got blocked for fraudulent activity suspicion.  Annoying.  Got that unblocked this morning and bought the third episode then too.  Looking forward to this, the last VR I used was my Samsung Gear VR on my Note 9.  It was fun, but the screen door was insane.  Hardly surprising given it was running from a phone.  I'm not expecting the world in comparison on the Quest 2, but the Reverb better live up to the hype :)

Wow is all I can say.  The standalone nature of this unit is so great.  The image quality is excellent, bearing in mind the last time I used VR was on my Samsung Gear VR and Note 9 😄  It's still not perfect, but it's perfectly acceptable.  Makes me very excited for my HP Reverb G2 to arrive in Jan though.  I loaded up Plex in the browser and the video quality is great.  It's not much different to watching movies on my old projector in that you can see the grid lines a little, but it's much higher resolution.  I watched the opening sequence of The Battle of the Five Armies where Smaug gets taken out and it was glorious.  Vader Immortal is also great.  He is a massive unit when he's standing in front of you life sized!

My Reverb G2 just arrived too.  Wasn't expecting it until January!  The picture is AMAZING.  So clear and bright.  Screen door is gone!

If you happened to get a Quest after Nov 20, you can get Asgard's Wrath for free the first time you activate the link cable to your PC, until the end of January.

I've been watching these devices hit the market for a little while now, would you guys say the Oculus 2 would be the one to get (for gaming)?

Depends on a few things such as whether you have a decent PC that could power a headset, or if you want a standalone device such as the Quest.

I have not used another headset to compare with (other than the quest 1) so can't comment on image quality / fov etc compared to the other options.  However I can say the image quality on the Quest 2 is pretty darn good, but where it really shines is the ability to be used stand alone and untethered.  You also have the option of running PC steam games untethered via virtual desktop even potentially to another room in your house - something you can't do with other headsets.

I've been experimenting with this and Oculus link playing PC games on the headset. Unfortunately my GTX1060 is only barely adequate.  However now Ive played a flight sim (or Starwars Squadrons) with VR it will be hard to ever go back to a flat screen.

I agree the Quest 2 display is very good for what it is. The HP Reverb G2 is obviously much clearer but the Quest holds its own and is great for its portability as a self contained unit. If you're debating when to get into VR, now is the time. The library of apps and games is extensive, and the tech itself has matured so much in just the last couple of years.

Got my Quest 2 a few weeks ago with Elite Strap and the Cable.

Have been blown away by it. Use it every night and even watching netflix is great.

Elite Strap is very comfortable. I play a lot of IB Cricket and they tracking is so good on the Quest 2. Don't use the cable much as virtual desktop works perfectly.
