... I'll see if the local JB Hifi has them in-store (I doubt it) as it would be good to try them on and compare IRL.

Went into JB Hifi today and, as feared, no demo models of any of the Withings watches are available (and they're currently out of the Horizon anyway). I'll try the two Wgtn region stores, but I'm assuming that, while they have stock, there won't be any watches to try on.

Those who have bought Withings watches - were there any places you were able to 'try before you buy'?

Not in a big rush as I'd rather buy when discounted (and after I've tried one to check for weight, especially) - my work discount amounts to only $40 off the ScanWatch and $30 off the Horizon...

I have a Garmin Enduro 2. Lasts me 32 days without GPS use and 20 days with GPS use (2 hours a day). So good not having to charge for so long. I get all the apps notifications but cannot reply to messages or emails which I do not want to anyway from the watch. Helps me not pick up the phone to ignore any messages I do not want to read or reply to straight away from phone.

Do whatever you want to do man.

If anything I use mine more now (Apple Watch S5) - I'm finding it very useful for monitoring my sleep where before I had never bothered to wear it to bed. It does mean remembering to stick it on charge an hour before I go to bed. Will be upgrading to an S9 this year I suspect.

No I check JB Hifi when I bought and they didn't have any, so grabbed one on special from Amazon AU. Was somewhat worried about the size and weight but realised once it arrived it was actually bit lighter than the old Casio AMW-701D-1AV I had and similar in size.

Thanks - yep, I've also confirmed they don't have them to demo, but the nice guy in the Wgtn store did say he'd take one out so I could try it on my wrist. Not sure if it's worth a trip down just for this, though...

Would you mind sharing (even if by DM) what you paid for the watch on Amazon AU? It's dropped in price there down to about $613 NZ, which is ok, but the problem is I've not been able to find any historical data that goes back too far (this is the best I could find) to see if that's decent or not. Thanks heaps.

I purchased the original 42mm Black Scanwatch, not the more expensive Scanwatch Horizon. Paid NZ$450 for it, and the current price at JB Hifi is $550 which seems similar to when I was looking at it last November. It seems like the Amazon specials are about $100 cheaper than the JB-Hifi, which lines up with the current NZ$730 JB has for the Horizon and your $613.

I made the move and purchased a low cost Citizen solar/light powered watch to see how I will of with the move. This will be interesting

My two solar watches are great; I think it is a really good solution for a watch.

I do wish the movements were more accurate - there are battery powered HAQ movements that can easily do 5 seconds or less per year accuracy, but none I have come accross with solar.

In the Northern hemisphere you can use atomic clock radio signals with a lot of watches to set them daily so the movement accuracy is not an issue.

Down here, unless you can use satellite, it is.

I really like my Amazfit GTR2. I use a watch face that looks like an analogue watch with Roman numerals.

I get a lot of comments about how good it looks.

It tracks my dailly steps activity and sleep. Can do heart rate and SpO2. In built GPS and compass. On-board tracking/recording of cycling/running etc.

It lasts from 4 days to two weeks between charges depending on what functions are enabled.

I use the lift to view function. You can shut off the screen between certain hours ( when you're asleep) to save battery and stop it distracting you in bed.

I find the notifications really useful. One feature I've found quite useful is to be able answer calls on the watch. I really thought that function was a gimmic but there's been a few occasions where it's been very handy.

The GTR is a nice looking watch with good features at a sharp price. GTR2

Thank you Pebble for getting me started with a Smart watch. Pebble really did have it sorted.

For me, I think the combination of AirPods and Apple Watch is great - esp either at the gym or walking the dog for music and podcasts. Always happy to leave the phone at home for that.

I have a decent standard watch and it gets a run maybe once a day in the work week when its a commute, work, and then another commute.

Was going to order today from Amazon for $617 but luckily got a priceme alert this morning. Looks like this is the cheapest it's ever been in NZ. What great timing...

(Green available at the same price.)

Same for me, but only $5 for delivery. I know both Wellington region stores have stock, but they were the only ones in my neck of the woods.

It does sleeping tracking. And heart monitoring during sleep. And apnea detection...
