Hi There,

My brother has a small real estate firm in Lower Hutt and is looking to redesign his website. Currently, it looks rather old fashioned and performs poorly on mobile devices.

We are looking for someone to redesign the site and supply a CMS that is easy for our secretary to use to update property and rental listings.

We have a rentals database that produces a comma delimited text file, which includes all data on rentals and the file path for associated property pictures. The new CMS and site would need to utilize data from this file.

We are looking for someone who has a good portfolio of previous clients, and who has created websites with product lists (like online stores) that are frequently updated. We want excellent performance on mobile devices, tablets and PCs (unlike the existing site), and wish to have good search engine optimization for our company.

What we are looking for is a one time cost for CMS and site development, plus monthly web hosting costs. We are not looking for an arrangement with large monthly fees for maintenance of the site. We want our secretary to be able to perform the vast majority of the updates using something simple like Wordpress.

If you are interested please PM me.

I Produce websites for mostly relocation companies. I can do your sites for you at a cheap rate.

Here is an example  of the basic site design Man and Van I do on wordpress.

Try SquareSpace. Google "squarespace real estate template" for examples of the best template to use, like this thread.

You might find a real estate agent specific hosted service which would make things much much easier, and reduce startup costs. You might end up with Wordpress and a real estate agent specific theme, or a generic theme customised.

I do a bit of this king of thing, but not really the design. I tend to do fixes, infrastructure and hosting, fixing performance problems created by the many clueless web designers who want to use 30 plugins and have 50MB pages that aren't mobile friendly, anything with email, etc.

The thing is that unless they use an SAAS like Squarespace which includes some CMS website maintenance cost in the monthly fee, they are going to need to hire someone to maintain the CMS, plus provide backups and support and security. The hosting fee won't cover any of that, unless it has additional backups to the daily ones. The fact they need to import a database via a text file, and display that info, makes the project significantly more expensive, as it is likely to need coding work, vs a squarespace or wordpress site. Not unless they can find a realestate listing service or plugin to connect to. I do some wordpress website stufff, but don't do custom programming stuff due to it being more hassle than it is worth.
