Does anyone have any idea what is holding Apple up with Siri for the Apple TV4?

I was expecting it to be announced at WWDC today but disappointingly there was no mention of it.

Siri for ATV 4 is fully working already and has been for some time BUT not in NZ. Just change your region and App Store to US or UK and you have Siri.

If I remember rightly when Siri was first announced alongside the iPhone 4S it took a while before it became available natively in NZ, so it could be a repeat with the Apple TV.

but you'd think that since they already have the kiwi accent recognition for iphones, they could easily role it out for ATV4 too?

Isn't it more about the content that the voice recognition? I had an early Carplay unit that I purchased in Australia and had shipped here, while the unit and Carplay in general wasn't available in NZ I found that searching for placed was not really supported, when the units became available here this changed, is it the same for Apple TV and Siri?

I agree Siri should have rolled our for NZ by now. I wonder if it has something to do with rights for searching within apps for content?

Changing region doesn't work for me as it logs me out of my NZ iTunes account.

No, don't change the region on the device. I have Siri working with my region set to NZ. The key is that you have to log in with a US or UK iTunes account. They're easy to sign up for without having to provide a credit card (just Google it - the instructions are all over the Internet) and then you just add the account to your AppleTV. One of the awesome things with the ATV4 is that, once you're logged into an account, it remembers it and the password, and you can just flick from one to the other. I have 4 - NZ, US, UK, AUS - and I just go to the accounts list and select the one I want to be logged into, and press enter. Instantly I am switched to that account. Having said that, I don't actually use Siri that much, but it's good to know I can if I want to.

And this (plus the comments above) are what mystifies me. Why doesn't Apple just include Siri here as well, like in Australia, seeing as how it apparently doesn't take much to get it to work?
