I agree, fairly underwhelming, i believe that the majority of included updates should have been implemented a long long time ago.

Folders are handy though..

Thats the problem with Apples marketing machine in this respect. The spend years telling you you dont need folders, or multitasking etc, and then expect people to be blown away when they introduce in down the track.

Combine that with actual competition, where the average consumer now knows what a lot of others phones can do, and you start running into problems generating the standard hysteria. (outside of WWDC of course)

Updated and just like the function on/off data which save me some $$$ when the previous iphone OS went straight to the internet and always on as a default.

Seamless and error free upgrade on my 32GB 3Gs. Took about 10 minutes and it rebooted straight into homescreen. All operator settings etc were there and it just works.

Had to do a bit of web trolling to work out how folders work but generally pretty straight forward.

Really like threaded emails - thats how i work in outlook. However, iOS4 seems to have broken some apps that deal with task syncing from exchange.

Didn't it have over 100 updates, but some of those updates are simply things like a new icons, such as a new calculator icon. Apple know how to hype it up. One of the new things I like, which hasn't been mentioned, is that podcasts now allow you to see the embedded podcast text, which only classic ipods allowed you to view.

Yeah, I have a few issues with some of my fave apps now - one in particular was the awesome PES 2010, which now has a landscape keyboard across it and has rendered it unusable/unplayable.

Grrrr

I'm also having an issue with updating apps via wifi. Basically getting a message saying that a secure connection cannot be established, please check date/time settings. I find that ...well...odd.

tardtasticx: I'm really disappointed that I cant have home screen wallpapers. I have an iPod touch second generation which was brought in december. I mean, I've had jailbroken themes on my iPod before which have wallpapers on homescreen and it works perfect. I don't see that it could be like, power hungry. Every other phone with less ram can handle that

Same here. I "upgraded" my iPod Touch 2G from jailbroken v3.1.2 to OS 4.

I shouldn't have bothered. I've lost more than I gained....and all I can see as a gain is folders.

Wallpapers don't work (Had them with Winterboard) and I can't multi-task - which worked fine with Proswitch and Backgrounder.

I'll play with a bit more and see what happens, but at this point I'm sorry I let my curiosity get the better of me.

You should have done your research a little better, Mr Lover.

Touch 3G and iPhone 3GS were the only ones getting all the bells and whistles.

yup probably, but not one major "wow" factor that people have come to expect. Combine all those, and that maybe why some people are feeling a little underwhelmed.

Since im running iPhone 3G we didnt even get wallpapers which was a bit average :\ So at first I wasnt really wowed all I got was folder but then Jailbroke with Redsn0w and got Multitasking and Wallpapers enabled which makes it way better. Also I havent had any lagg or battery life dieing with wallpapers or multitasking :D

Since upgrading I can no longer use my iPhone with the JVC stereo in my car, it plays about 5 seconds of the first track of the first album and then freezes. I have tried restoring and still no good... Not impressed.

Anyone else having this issue?

Well I thought my upgrade had gone rather well, that was till I had a scavenge around the net and discovered what didn't activate on my 3GS. Things like Face in the photos, but place does exist. Some others as well but none important enough to make me do a restore at this stage. Maybe I wait till the next release and see if that fixes it.

Yeah i had the same, hard reset sorted it out. Hold home and lock buttons, sorted it out.

I have been rather interested in what the "multi-tasking" was going to be like in iOS4 since talk of it's release. I have to say, I am dissapointed to hear that it is not true multi-tasking. iOS4 simply pauses the application while it runs up the other application. It is a pitty they didn't enable true multi-tasking in my opinion, it would have made the iPhone a much more attractive "smart" phone.

Update seemed to have gone really quick, just missing sevice provider settings like APN settings, Tethering and voice mail. Have set the APN and Vociemail back up manually but still not tethering. Have restored twice, have tried just loading the ipcc files via iTunes, eg: run the code in Termial, then load iTunes and hold alt and click restore, tried unlockit, rebooting, probably the 101 so called solutions on the net, but still no tethering. It does something but no tethering. Wouldn't mind so much but sold my Vodem stick just last month so this is really, really annoying, need to buy a vodem stick yet again.

Can't wait for the new phone to arrive in NZ will just buy that and hope that fixes it.

Out of the 6 phones around the office 3 are the same problem and 3 work fine, really random anyone else lose Tethering etc?
