Hi Allan

I spoke with you on the phone today, currently I am seeing you registered on our back end router and a small amount of usage on your account. I will call you tomorrow to confirm this with you.

Allanhall:
I just hope that I am getting the 17mb speeds that Jess has, as my line is clearly capable of it  with her use name and password in the settings.  Which was set to UFBB not ADSL

Just to clarify - line speed isn't determined by any setting tied to a particular username.

Looks like Flamebeard has you sorted and syncing at 19Mb down, 985kb up - better than the Jess username ;-)

Hopefully that is your connection sorted for the foreseeable.

no worries man, I'm glad I could hopefully help, also through some sneaky black magic and voodoo I was able to access the GUI of your router I can see that your router on site is syncing at 19mb down 900kb up, and could also ping Facebook.com from the GUI.
If you could let us know either on here, or in the ticket reference which you still have (should be in the subject of the email I sent you earlier today also), or PM me, that would be great, either way I'll still give you a call tomorrow to confirm. :-)

Hang on let me go make a cup of tea while this page loads.  That's if I can keep a connection after restarting my modem 5 times.

What a joke if it was not my life.  At least you guys are getting paid to stuff me around.

Hmm I wonder what Jess has that I don't ?   Blazing to LA too.

Edit

Yay Back to a D which is where I was before the Ordeal.

I'm having lots of problems accessing sites and it mostly looks like its DNS related.

For example http://www.meetup.com/find/ gives me a connection reset error

Likewise constant facebook time outs and mixed performance with other websites

If you get 1.32mb to Auckland through fibre, your connection definitely has problem

Connection Reset errors are generally sent from the webserver and not related to DNS.

I suggest having a discussion with the helpdesk and see what they find. Its not the normal performance we would expect to see.

True but he is on DSL and it is still a problem. Puzzling that he seems to sync at a high rate...the team are still working on this one.

router has been set to defaults many times now. Thanks to Allan for being patient while we diagnose this.

Hey Allan, Last we heard you were going to retest after we changed some more settings for you after learning more about how you have configured the physical set up of the box. Are you able confirm that there has been no or little change? The next step we would look at is sending you a rather long patch cable to try increase the length of your router from the cabinet. Please let us know or PM me when you can.

You have sent me a new Router which apparently the courier tried to deliver at 7.30 am Sat. That's early for a shift worker so I did not hear the door so I am still chasing it up .

Sorry to all those . As I have sort of hijacked this Thread.

New Router finally arrived and plugged in.  The wireless is now working. So the replacement of the faulty router was faulty.

Its certainly better than it has been. NZ speeds good C + the rest are D's

Tests run at 1 am. Can I do better guys ? Or do I have to live as a D?

Well your Auckland speed is pretty much what your line speed will deliver both up and down so your connection looks like it is running great for ADSL. Although your wireless is now working you are running these tests wired with any mac wireless turned off yes?

The LA speeds are jumping around, one test has the fastest up, the other the fastest down but both are run off our network so I dont think this is Orcon. Again we have no contention, shaping or issues that would cause that variation.

What is your real-world experience like now?
