Those settings seem right when compared with my own Deco, but I'm only using 1Gig UFB. Are you sure it's not a layer1 issue, do you see any lights flash on the ONT LAN port? The static public IP is reserved on our end against your username but you still want to learn it with DHCP+vlan10, don't use STATIC on the WAN interface options.

The most notable thing I could see regarding the ONT is that the 10G light goes solid green when connected to the deco - but flashes green when connected to the Orbi (which I assume indicates activity).

And yep I'm using the Dynamic IP option and VLAN10, Priority 0.

I also have a fault logged with you guys to investigate/do a renewal of the lease just in case under ID#42561877

It flashes when I first connect the cable from ONT to the Deco, then sits solid green afterwards. App says no internet, the wifi network shows no internet access yada yada.

Just a thing to try can you select custom profile and enter in your own settings rather then pre stored settings.

I have also done this already, trust me I tinkered with every setting I could think of.. I'm at a loss, it should just bloody work 😂

Yeah that sounds like you get layer 1 up. Not something simple like you're using a LAN port instead of a WAN port?

I can check the DHCP/PPP and traffic stats.

PM me the ONT serial number (it’s on the bottom a starts with ALCL), and a couple of timeslots where you can hook up the deco. Let’s find a time that works for us both and I’ll dive in and take a look 👍

I wish it was a chorus connection! It's through Tuatahi First Fibre, which I don't think uses Chorus does it?

If they do, let me know and I can PM you. I even tried to hook up my laptop to the ONT and login to the admin terminal to see what was going on, but its refusing connections on the admin IP.

it does sound like the ONT<->Deco connection is not using a Deco WAN port for the Ethernet connection though. Not sure if they do that silly auto-detect WAN thing still or if you can actually tell it which port of which unit is the WAN interface.

Does Deco (with vlan not tagged) get an IP address on WAN if in router mode behind your other Deco or Fritz. Does it still get an address if you tag the WAN interface with vlan 10 (when it should NOT).

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

It does the silly auto-detect WAN thing, but from what I understand it takes every connection as a WAN connection first before trying it as ETH. It just has two WAN/LAN ports and uses auto-sensing to detect.

Sorry, can you rephrase what I should be checking here?

Are you saying connect to do the following chain? ONT -> WAN Orbi -> ETH to Deco X50

In the above chain, check if the Deco gets an IP address in Router mode, and also if it gets an IP if tagged with VLAN10?

The expected output should be no IP address with VLAN10 Tagging if connected in the above chain, and an IP address when untagged?

Please confirm and I can test that soon :)

I can confirm this behavior works as you expected.

ONT -> Orbi WAN -> Deco X50 LAN with VLAN Tagging off shows the following:

Tagging to VLAN10 using the NZ UFB preset, it loses the IP address & shows a solid red light.

Gets network just fine with VLAN tagging turned off, and the wifi broadcasted works as expected.

Hold up - are you saying you connected your laptop to the ONT and got a local subnet? What was the "admin IP"?

If you're getting a local (RFC1819) address from your ONT, something is wrong.
