Can someone from Slingshot possibly comment on why the naked plan's data cap is so woefully small in comparison to the other plans? I am seriously wanting to switch to Slingshot and don't particularly want to pay for a landline, however 30GB for $80 and no off-peak is pretty bad.
Is there any plans in the future to bump the NDSL plan up so it's attractive when compared with the other plans?
Thanks

From posts on the Slingshot forum, they don't make enough on naked dsl services to make it any better.

catch 22, they dont make money so no need to change but if they made them more attractive they might attract more people and make money

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Yep which is exactly why I asked the question in the slingshot forum that people from slingshot are active in!

New naked plans should be end of this week. Aaron, our product manager for this product has been doing a fabulous job getting this into market - will ask him to keep you informed. We also have 'better network' naked plans on the way,

In the meantime, what is everyone looking for in a naked plan?
50gb? 100Gb? 500Gb? Unlimited?
What price seems fair? (note: free is not an option and slingshot is alresdy the price leader for  broadband in NZ)
Contract term?

What else is important?

Thanks

Scott

Around 100-200GB would be the sweet spot for me, with prices that are $15-$25 cheaper than those with landlines (since they are supposed to be paying $45ish for landline services). Also no contract would be awesome, or a short one.
Would happily pay in the region of $80mo for 100GB+ naked (in the better network zone).

Vodafone have a 60gb plan for $65.00 (with an on account mobile plan which we already have) that I've been looking at,  but out of loyality I'm going to wait so see what you guys come up with.

Somewhere around the $1 per gb mark for 50-60gb would suit me (especially with the databanking). Anymore than that I and might as well keep the phoneline.

A free VOIP line would be great as well.

As for contract term, I've been with slingshot for at least 10 years so I'm not worried about that, as long as you can change plans within the contract term.

I second no or short contracts + more than one data package. examples.
$50 = iTalk + 30GB
$55 = iTalk + 50GB
$70 = iTalk + 100GB
$80 = iTalk + 150GB
etc

These are examples, but similar to the packages availabel to landline users.

Hi,
It's Aaron here.  Sorry, I can't say what our new naked-DSL plans will be yet (sorry VF :)) but it'll be heaps cheaper than $1 per GB.  I don't think overage will be an issue either <wink>.  Our new Homeline+Broadband plans which offer heaps of data should give you an idea of what we've got planned.  We're also looking to do something special for existing naked broadband customers so "watch this space".
P.S. you'll def. be able to upgrade without penalty.
Cheers!
Aaron

Wow, that sounds awesome. I am with worldexchange at the moment and if the plans are as good as you say and they come out before worldexchange do their so called updated pricing I will most likely jump ship. I'd be willing to pay $90-100 for 100gb. At the moment I usually end up paying $80-85 a month for the 75gb free offpeak and ~$1.25 for on peak data. Usually use 5-10gb from surfing etc and it's just a pain not being able do download stuff when I want it.

Keep us posted!
