Hi, a few days ago we recieved an email from Slingshot saying an "Automatic upgrade has been completed" I thought to myself oh great our connection will be improved, and maybe it will be better. WRONG! It has given us nothing but problems.

For a start, I don't think we even got an email explaining what would be changed. it has completely overwritten our previous voicemail setup, that we used for about 7 years and not had the slightest problem with. We got that setup when we were still on Telecom and when we changed over to Slingshot, that service was just carried over and we were happy with it like that.

The New Voicemail prompting menu, is too slow and that really needs to be changed, and access numbers have been changed and It's vert confusing. Also, the Caller ID suprisingly I don't mind the way it is now, although it was simplier to understand the numbers before the change.

The biggest problem is I have have a habbit when somone doesn't answer I phone them back, untill they do. But With Slingshot, I have to push the end, and talk button more than once because when I do it first go quite often the call hasn't disconnected or if it is an engaged tone and I push end, then talk again then I still get the engaged tone.

I have to keep phone on end for a few seconds before I can push talk again, a total annoyance. Internet on the otherhand has been fantastic, and I love my speeds. It's just the telephone changes that I'm grumbling about. Possible to get original configuration back, as I really hate the changes.

Thanks

Hi,

The network you are on now is an LLU network so you are connected to an MSAN and your homeline is now a SIP line.

This gives you the Easyphone features free (VM, CLID etc) but the side effects you mention are fairly normal.

After every call the line resets which can take a few seconds etc, CLID shows as international so yes can be more difficult to read at a glance too.

Might i ask what brand of phone you are using?

In any case, We can "roll you back" to the wholesale network you were on, this normally is more expensive tho (Would depend on the account and whether your price dropped when we changed you etc)

If you PM me your details ill get it underway or answer any further questions you have.

Thanks,
Joe.

Hi there Joe.

Yes please we would love to be rolled back. Regarding the plan, we took out a AYCE plan when telecom Big time shut it's doors about a year or so ago. So our home line is with Slingshot too. Regarding price changes, I'm not too sure about that, but when I checked the emails regarding the recent upgrade there was nothing mentioning price changes. But we may have had our price changed a few months ago. How would I contact you on PM, as I have never used Geekzone PM before.

Thanks

TBH you will probably be better using their LLU service and SIP rather than the old (literally) 1970s era Telecom phone exchanges. You probably just need to tweak it to your desire.

Also having the phone number in international format is very common now. More and more material I get like business cards etc. all have the +64 9 or +64 21 etc.
