So I have my email client set to show plaintext instead of fancy html by default. The plaintext part of the payment reminder notices from Orcon have been getting more bizarre.

Here is one from 2009:

(This example email works with the "Example" data.)

Dear <my account number>,
Thank you for your business.
This is a reminder of your outstanding balance of <my name>, which is now due.

Regards,
Bob
Your Nice Business

(<my anonymizing>)

Then they changed it to nothing for a while.

Then in 2011 they decided to use a copy of another unrelated form email:

Failed Credit Card Payment
Hi <my name>,
It has come to our attention that the credit card payment has failed this month and your account is currently overdue.
To prevent restriction of your services please contact us on 0800 13 30 30 between the hours of 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday, to make alternative arrangements to pay your account.
Amount Owing: $<amount>
If you have already paid this bill within the last couple of days, thank you and please disregard this reminder.
Thanks,
The Orcon Team

Not shown here is the rather liberal use of tab chars in the message. No I don't use my credit card to pay Orcon. The amount shown was $0 sometimes.

More recently they actually managed to get it right!

Your Orcon Account,
Hi <my name>,
This is a friendly reminder that your Orcon account <account number> has an overdue balance of $<amount>.
You can make payment to Orcon by: <blablabla actual detailed list of payment methods>

Unfortunately that didn't last long. Today:

Dear <my email address> <my account number>,
Thank you for your support.

You donated <amount> during the year. Your donations this year are much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Your Favorite Charity

Is my Orcon bill now tax deductible?

Come on! A bit of care and attention with the billing process please!

Hi,
First time I have heard of an issue - but thanks for raising it - it's with the billing team to correct now.
Thanks!
