ADKM: Thanks for the info...  quite tempted as old sat receiver just died yesterday!
But a quick call around the shops you listed (in Dunedin) and no-one has any stock.

Check back tomorrow, I'll see why the website has no purchase options either

Our website has now been updated to allow online orders.  We have been trying to fulfill all our pending back orders and hence the delay in updating our website.

Any plans to add Netflix and/or Lightbox apps to this unit? Or do you have something in the pipeline that will be capable of that? It would be my satellite tv nirvana.

Our products can handle any streaming sites, but it's up to them to decide if they want to add their service. Best to ask them and get some interest :-)

The 2x USB ports are for media playback. It will be able to view a range of file formats including .mp3 .png .jpg as well as various video files too although we recommend .mp4 files

The S8200 can also be used as a DLNA streaming media player, you can send video files and photos and music to the S8200 using media sharing apps on your mobile, tablet and via PC using the 'send to' feature. Avoid connecting cables and do it via WiFi.

What can the S8200 do with non Freeview satellite television? Can it display EIT EPGs and DVB-S2 h.264? Does it have manual timer record?

Can the rewind live TV feature be turned off so the hard drive isn't active all the time?

That's interesting, and I will seriously consider buying one of these as I am contemplating giving Sky the boot soon.

As well as using it as a player, can you also play recordings made on the unit via DLNA over the network and/or access the drive contents over a network? This is a key feature for me. There is at least one unit that JB HiFi sell that will do this (the name of which escapes me) which I am contemplating buying, but it isn't as well specced as this unit.

Also, I'm not sure from your previous answer, but as well as playback can the USB ports be used to copy recordings off the unit? Or can this be done instead, or as well as, using the network functionality? This is of considerable interest as I have an 8-bay networked NAS, populated with 6TB drives and with a Plex server, which provides much more storage etc than the drive on the unit. Plus, I like to load my recording backlog onto a laptop when I travel for work.

Finally, I'm guessing the answer is not because of the annoying Freeview accreditation rules, but does it have a 60 second skip. I miss that from my old recorder so much.......laughing

How could us NZers be so thick or dumb as to allow Freeview to get away with that.? What a rotten trick and it's not done in Aussie.  The manufacturers should have told then where to go!  Do we actually need Freeview? Seems to me we'd all be better off without it, particularly the +1 debacle.  I'm told by Panasonic Execs they refuse to do anything about the numbering system that distinguishes  them - and plan to add more.

But is there a +1 on the Sattelite service and does it work the same?

You will be able to scan and manual scan non-Freeview channels on any satellite, there are no restrictions

Can it display EIT EPGs and DVB-S2 h.264?

I will have to check with you in the morning as I am going to have a look at the end user version (I am currently using the developer version which is used for product videos etc..) From beta versions yes a EIT standard EPG was accessible manually from the Menu but will need to check back. But yes to DVB-S2 H.264

Does it have manual timer record?

Yes

Can the rewind live TV feature be turned off so the hard drive isn't active all the time?

Yes, you can toggle this on/off in the PVR Settings menu.

The S8200 comes with a built in iManual which will tell you about these features and how to use them / settings etc..

A few questions..

Where is the receiver manufactured?

What standards does the built in wifi support? 5GHZ band? A.C ?

Can you post some screenshots of the menus?

Pressing the OK  button on a live channel will bring up the channel list on the right side, pressing the > key brings up a mini EPG with the live channel still visible in the background:

Screen displays look really good, but still think when you switch channels you should show the present program AND the next upcoming program below it.
