I set up an alert with PriceSpy when I first looked at these boxes and it triggered today. I bought one ages ago but for anyone thinking about buying a T2200, the Warehouse has them for $279 at the moment which is pretty cheap!

I bought mine refurbished for $259 direct from DishTV. Looks like new! Details here...

 Hi Elgin.

Maybe refurbished doesn't mean the same as new off production?

Was about to post something similar - I'd be suspicious if I was having issues that a lot of other people weren't having and I'd got a refurbished unit... (That is, why was it sent back to get refurbished in the first place...)

DishTV warranties the product for 12 months, just the same as a new item, so I'm not too worried.

 Elgin,

I'm not saying you're naive, rather you are very trusting that someone else's issues may have been fixed when refurbishment has been completed.

There are too many variables around site, environment and feeds, let alone think about whether all parts were tested to the same QC level as the original production process, when it comes to the exacting nature of the PVR. Think about the total number of concurrent processes, you are asking the equipment to handle for less than $180 (cost estimate).

I bought a T1050 PVR a couple of years back and then the T2200 last year, when my 55" Samsung bought in 2012, would no longer run TVOneOnDemand.

I thought it would be better value to purchase a PVR which would be upgraded as required to keep up with the new technology, rather than dumping a good TV every 3 years.

So far this is working, with only a few glitches from time to time, ans as I said in a recent post, I was able to get the support from DishTV to resolve the issue.

I do hear your pain when things do not work as expected.

That said, I have redundancy built in with Chromecast and AppleTV if need be.

Cheers

Bernard

Hi folks, I have a Dish T2200 and it's great with the LG picking up the Freeview plus functionality.

Question.I have a big house so one remote is challenging and am currently getting the family to use the Browser based remote to change channels on their phones, etc.

Surely there must be an app based remote around? Heard this was on the roadmap. Any feedback appreciated.

Cheers KB

Transferred a file from the hard drive to a USB stic. Cant get my computer to read the file. Is there a variety of formats that we can save videos to the hard drive. How do we change them.

i dont believe you can watch it on the PC as its protected. this is down to the content providers (ie TVNZ etc) and their requirements.

Hmm and here  I was thinking things were going quite well.

Three nights ago I wanted to watch another episode of Cleverman, so selected the TVNZ on demand app on the T2200, went to the Cleverman page and selected the episode.  Put up with the two adds then the programme started, however a second later the screen dropped back to the Cleverman page.   Thinking I might have hit a button on the remote, I repeated my selection and the T2200 repeated itself.  On doing it a third time, I realised that when the box had dropped back to the Cleverman page, the sound track to the programme was still running.

Went to power the box down, then realised it was recording, so I gave up on the T2200 and watch the episode on the tv using another device.

Yesterday I reset the T2200 and then watched another episode of Cleverman, things worked fine.

Tonight I went to watch the final episode, this time after the ads, the programme started then 2 seconds later the screen went blank (black) however the soundtrack continued.

I gave up on the T2200 and instead watched the episode on the tv, this time using the PS4.

All in all a bit disappointing.

Powered down the device just now, it said it is going into standby, now it appears to be locked up with only a green led going, guess it will be heading for another hard reset,  oops no, three minutes later it has rebooted itself.

Now watching prime, selected TV1 by pressing the 1 button, Channel 1 showed up on the left hand side, after the inevitable 4 second delay TV1 showed up as the programme on the right hand side of the screen, however, the prime programme continued to be displayed.  More frustration

Oh yeah after using the TVNZ app on the PS4 and realising how responsive the remote is, I am now very aware as to how sluggish and slow the T2200 is to responding to the keys pressed on the remote control. Case in point is the slow changing of channels as said above between 5 to 6 seconds from the pressing of a key to actually seeing the channel content. With the ondemand app it was just how long it took between key press and selection movement

i dont believe the apps on the unit are made by dishtv so any issues you need to direct to TVNZ/TV3

Hi,  I have to disagree.  The app might be made by another provider, how it reacts on a device is a problem for the device manufacturer. As mentioned the tvnz app (obviously different software in each case) worked well on the PS4 and a surface pro.

All I have stated here is that the TVNZ app didn't play nicely with the T2200, I posted it on this forum in the interest to see if others have seen similar problems.

At this stage the on demand features are becoming more important to us. If it doesn't work well on the T2200 then it will not be my "goto" device and will become less and less relevant to us.

The ps4 is a powerful box so I'm not surprised it is better , sounds like there is some room for improvement though. The remote itself is where I started. Perhaps we could time specific functions and list the difference in seconds ?

Hi

We are afraid that you are incorrect, TVNZ has sent us an email regarding an issue on their app this past week and the issue was due to their development team rolling out an update without notifying so the bug was found by FreeviewPlus App users.

Freeview provides an up to date Network Status page here for all Freeview reports.  http://freeviewforum.co.nz/page/network-status

Thanks
