Does anyone else get 1-3 second flashes of bluescreen with their Zinwell decoder?

I have a cheap KTC 22" LCD monitor with HDMI input. I have the standard HDMI cable that came with the Dick Smith Freeview DVB-T set-top box.

About 3 times per night, the screen goes completely blue (no picture or writing at all) for about 2 seconds. The RCA-out sound continues, and the composite video output (I have tested with another TV hooked up) is also uninterrupted.

The thing is that my LCD TV never goes bright blue for any normal connection loss (for instance if I pull out a component source or HDMI cable) so that seems to imply the problem is before the monitor. (Except for the fact that composite output is unaffected.)

The only other thing I can think of is the cable, or problems with reception that are only noticed with a digital output.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

I have had one of these decoders since the Olympics. It connects by HDMI to my AV receiver and thence to a Panasonic 7 series Plasma. never had any of the issues you describe.

yup simmilar issue here too.
Its heat related as far as I can tell. Seems to be that part of the box over heats - shuts down and then starts again when its cool enough. Could be a chip, bad solder or god knows what.
In our case we moved it away from the xbox and amp and the issue has all but disappeared.

How can it be restarting in tristanb's case if audio and composite are unaffected??

Spark FibreMAX using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+. UAP, UAP AC Pro, UAP AC Pro Mesh, Apple TV 4, Apple TV 4K, iPad Air 1, iPhone 6s, VodaTV Gen 2. If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

in my case teh audio work fine - just the hdmi stops, and the box goes cold - anyone with a zinwell will be suprised by that! after it cools down everything starts working again.
Tried it with composite , but it seems to not want to do composite and hmdi at once. I guess its the drm thingy cutting the analogue off. ( this is with hdmi set to pal by the way ).

I haven't really noticed if it's heat related. The box gets pretty hot, just like anything with a fast CPU does. It sits on a stereo speaker, and is not really enclosed in any way.

I was at my parents, who have the Zinwell brand 620 HD, and theirs is enclosed in a case without much clearance. They don't have any problems with loss of HDMI signal.

Just wondering Dixm if you get a blue screen when you lose your signal? Mine only goes off for a few seconds, and recovers completely with RCA sound unaffected - not actually sure if HDMI sound is lost.

It's quite hard to investigate since it seems to happen at completely random times. I still haven't had a good look to see if the shade of blue is the same as the TV menus or Freeview ones.
