no ive got nothing that would interfere with the sound, and some of the channels don't make it.

The brand name says it all

Bought of trademe , usual story , buyer beware

Why do people buy the cheapest junk they can find, and then expect it to work like a more expensive item

IMO throw it in the skip , spend a few more dollars and buy something that is going to work

Do you mean a whirring wobbly sound in the background? That would make more sense.

is this odd sound out of the unit or your tv or do you have this connected to a receiver?

The warehouse has a unit for like $80. Seriously agree with the comments above. If yours is busted then return it and get something that works.

it cant be the lnb if the sound is coming from the STB

sounds like an internal fault in the unit

Listen to what the experts are saying

Get your money back

The warehouse ones are rebadged DTVS  units

One of the best DVBS freeview approved STBs on the market

How much did you pay for your cheap unit?

If it's $50 and doesn't work well then another $30 - $40 gets you one that does work and that has the freeview approved MHEG5 EPG as well as the basic EIT one.

The menus are easy to follow and intuitive which is usually the other bit that suffers when you opt for a no name cheap product.

I don't think you can say a product that doesn't work properly is cheap as you've still paid money for something that doesn't work. You're not comparing apples with apples, so I think the warehouse one is cheap. I never could understand why you'd opt for a digistar etc when you can now get the warehouse dtvs one or the ultraplus 700 hdmi unit for under $150.
