I'm a Wellingtonian, and the worst part of my day is fumbling with my wallet and snapper card every time I use public transport.

Yesterday I went to a 2degrees store to finally get one of their touch2pay snapper Sims, only to be told they've discontinued them.

In their place are Semble enabled Sims. The idea is, that if you've got a NFC enabled Android handset, these new Sims will allow you to store and use the NFC tags of your ASB or BNZ credit/debit card, thus replacing them.

The interesting news is that your Snapper card (and likely Auckland transport's card) might soon be found hanging out in Semble's virtual wallet.

Spark & Vodafone are also on the bandwagon so I could see this taking off quite nicely... I just hope that the other banks like ANZ don't get bolshie and try make their own proprietary app system, which they'll no doubt neglect the minute it's out the door.

Of course, no Windows Phone app (plz Semble, help a brother out).
