Dear 2Degrees,

On Friday morning, several hundred people are going to line up and buy a new iPhone 3GS.

Some outright, most on a plan.

Vodafone are going to snare some of the most lucrative customers (in terms of ARPU) right from under your nose.

So please, please, give us a little something to look forward to before Friday? I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to control my new iPhone $130 plan urge, unless I know what I have to look forward to! Then I might hold out 'til August ;D

Thanking you in advance.

2Degrees: There are also a LOT of customers that are very unhappy with the Vodafone iPhone pricing plans.

PLEASE... Use this knowledge and make us a decent value for money plan and help give the industry a big shakeup!!!

They almost certianly won't be selling the iphone either - the minimum order commitments required by apple would probably prohibit it.

Dear Geekzoners,

The sad but true reality is that we will not be selling the iPhone at launch.
We know that the iPhone works on our network (as we have happy iPhone users here in the office using it on our network).
We haven't tested the 3GS - but will be getting our hands on one and giving it a good workout to see what happens. We'll let you know the results.

Cheers!

Given that 2 degrees are aiming for the prepay market, I'm going to suggest that any PDA type phone is not their intended market, at least initially.

I was all hopes for 2 degrees to shake up the market, but I have realised that for me, this is unlikely.  I can call almost any phone in NZ at any time and pay no more than 50 cents a call, using a combination of prepay VF sims and Telecom phones.  Given that the current price of prepay tends to be 90 cents a minute, expecting a 44% drop in call rates is unrealistic, at least for the next 5 years.  It looks like I'll be carrying around a few phones for a while yet.

technically, wouldn't there be 3g at launch for those of us who don't live in areas where 2degrees have towers and have to roam on vodafone's network? (aka everywhere except auckland, wellington and christchurch)

Thats ok! You don't have to offer the iPhone handset as such, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give a decent alternative "plan" to use an iPhone on. We can at least then buy a handset outright and have something decent to look forward to...
