2degrees: Hey Geekzoners!

For those of you who have been waiting to change your 022 number...here you go.
It's easy to change your 2degrees number. But there's a couple of things you need to know first.

Cheers
2degrees!

What you need to know first is that there are 70 million possible phone numbers in the range that 2D have made available, of which 5 million are / were actually available, in other words you have a 1 in 14 chance of getting the number you wanted - better odds than lotto anyway.

70 million? How you figure?

022 + 0/1/2/3/4/5/6 + 6 digits

10^6 = 1 million

022 + (7) * 1 million = 7 million

Now there are some reserved for various reasons, so it is in total less than 7 million, but still....

Go check out http://www.trademe.co.nz/Mobile-phones/2degrees/auction-242113877.htm

Seller claiming "just letting you know its already confirmed by 2degrees official that its nothing wrong to sell my own sim card. it is my sim card i can do whatever i want, 2degrees officials said. full stop".

Which is funny since the Terms and Conditions ACTUALLY say "Any SIM card we issue to you or which otherwise comes into your possession remains our property" and "If you change the Mobile Phone Number we allocate to you to another Mobile Phone Number selected by you from us (not being a Mobile Phone Number Ported by you), and we find the selected Mobile Phone Number for sale within six months of when the SIM card using that Number was activated, we may disconnect your connection(s) to the Services without prior notice"

Utter prick. This sort of person is why 2degrees is guaranteed to just take away the "change your number" function and stick us with the same crap every other telco has given us.

Oh by the way, 2degrees?  Can you fix http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/termsofuse, the link saying "download now" goes to the August 25 version of the T&Cs, the picture of the T&Cs links to the August 1 version.

(Searching for 2degrees on TradeMe turns up 10 pages of 022 phone numbers for sale by the way - 2degrees, if you don't enforce it now it's just going to get out of hand).

I finally have fibre!  Had to leave the country to get it though.

Hmm, seems I was either too slow or my number was never released.
Are there any plans for releasing more numbers in the future? I am working under the assumption that someone didn't actually want my number, as it is just my 027 equivalent and that my number is hiding on a sim in a shop somewhere around the country.
It would be pretty cool if I could get an email that says something along the lines of 'Hey Nick, the number you were looking for has become available & we have given you first dibs!'

We're not likely to be releasing any more any time soon. The remaining ranges -- 0227, 0228 and 0229 are reserved for future use.
