Baboon: Ummm... I just enabled the birthdays calendar (in Settings->Calendar->View, scroll to the bottom) and it populated itself *shrug*
I've noticed it can take anywhere from seconds to minutes to populate with my contact's birthdays.
I didn't know there was a way to have them show up elsewhere.

Hmm I had to delete it and turn it on there again and now it's working. :)

But it's also adding a day to the birthday in the calendar!
It is showing the correct date in the birthdays calendar in my Outlook for Windows and also on my iphone, it's only the Outlook web app calendar that is wrong.I'll log a fault with Microsoft as well.

Well, when it comes to bugs, misery loves company for the purpose of getting them fixed :-)

I just had their rep calling me on the phone again. This time gathering web logs. Clearly still no idea what's wrong. I mentioned I no longer appeared to be alone with this issue :-)

Just hazarding a guess here but it sounds like exported dates are in UTC time (UTC+0) which may result in them being imported half a day out - when imported.

Except, as I say, if I create a brand-new contact with a birthday in Outlook it still happens.

What happens if you create a new calendar in outlook and create a new event (don’t import anything).

The issue only occurs with the auto-generated birthdays calendar.

My suspicion is that the calendar that was exported was in UTC time.  When exporting a calendar using ical, it can be done in UTC time or in local time (depending on source application)

I think in an earlier post it was mentioned that the birthdays came from another calendar.

The birthdays calendar is auto-generated by outlook.office.com from contact's birthdays.
You check a box in web Outlook's settings to create it.

Yea it’s nothing to do with any imported contacts or calendar.

I suspect it’s something to do with the Birthdays calendar itself and the underlying time zone / region setting that we don’t have access to. All my time zone and region settings are set to NZ yet when I put in a birthday for a contact it displays in American format, as in m/dd/yyyy instead of dd/mm/yyyy.
That’s in the Outlook web app only, the date in the same contact appears in the correct format in outlook in windows.

They are always investigating. I searched for other reports and came across this comment

"Hi everyone,

This is a known issue and is now being investigated by our product team. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this problem may have caused you. We will keep you posted once an update has been made.

The above promise was made in 2012. It is now near the end of 2018 and the problem continues. How much longer does your product team need??"

This morning I find my outlook.office.com contacts unviewable and unable to edited - the option is greyed out.

One hopes that this a sign some detective work is being undertaken behind the scenes. But like you, I'm not holding my breath for an actual solution.
