Would be nice for the mother-in-law  who would like an Android for the App adons  but want a flip fone not a slab..

Samsung also have one  in china  but not out side there..

I've had a look at this, and there are next to no Android phones that come in a flip form factor. There are 8 in total, of which 2 will run on XT, and only the Motorola XT611 will work on Vodafone/2degrees 3G.

You might have better luck finding something if you can convince her to go for a model with a slide-out keyboard.
