Having some difficulty getting mine repaired under warranty as I cannot find the original charger, and the person in the Vodafone store would not take it to send away without it. Has anyone else who had theirs die had a similar experience in terms of having the warranty honoured? Whether yes or no, which network were you on?

Sounds odds to me. Working in retail we generally recommend to only send the unit away with the SIM and microSD removed. When I sent mine away through Noel Leeming I just gave them the unit (even though I had the packaging, charger and all that with me at the counter) and they were sweet with it

Thats sounds very odd, as it is just a simple micro USB cable and plug, which is generic these days. That should not affect the warranty in any way. That is almost as bad as them saying you must have the original box and packaging. You aren't asking for a refund, you are asking for a repair or replacement under warranty. I would ask to speak to someone higher up.

Mine is a 2degrees unit bought through The Warehouse Stationery.  I removed my SIM card and SD card and returned just the phone in the original box.  I didn't include the earphones or charger.  They noted on the repair form exactly what was included so they could ensure it all came back.

I got mine back from repair, and they just reflashed the software and said "oh, it's fixed now"
Well, it's not... It died again 10mins later but this time with the "I'm not starting up again" thing.

I've now bought a Nexus. Ultimate fix is ultimate.

My S3 has just died, will not power on, Charge or show any sighs of life. I'm with 2D dropping off for repair this afternoon.

I was also on JB 4.1.1 never got around to updating to 4.1.2

Died on 298 days on 24/7 RIP

My S3 also died this weekend, in with Noel Leeming for repairs. I had same issues with the phone freezing, and randomly turning off over the past two weeks. Then this Saturday it turned off and would only boot to the Samsung screen, can't get into recovery or anything :-(

Maybe they are programmed to expire just before the s4 release!
This makesMe wonder if the galaxy s4 will do the same .
..
I've not seen mass suicide with the s or s2 in fact mine s2 had resurrected many times after over enthusiastic tweaking

I'm worried mine is going to die soon and since I bought it on 31/05/2012 I don't think they will cover it after 1 year is up.

Ignore manufacturer warranty periods, just return it to where you bought it from and quote the Consumer Guarantees Act.

I got mine from DSE, are they usually pretty good at dealing with that?

It hasn't actually died yet but it has started rebooting spontaneously..
