Hello,

My nexus 4 screen stopped working, apparently the water marker has been triggered but also it has corrosion on the main PCB components and connectors.

The phone itself still appears to work (vibrates, plays notification sounds when it gets a new email, detects as shows in explorer when i connect via USB to a computer)

I want to use the phone with mightytext for SMS syncing from a computer. I need to install the app and configure it on the phone (and preferably remove a couple of other accounts on the phone).

Is there a way for me to do this given the screen doesn't work?

e.g. using HDMI output and some alternative way of navigating?

Thanks,
Blair

USB Mouse? Think you need a host cable?

Nexus 4 doesn't support USB OTG out of the box. Bluetooth mouse should work.

Keep in mind I can't use the screen at all. So whatever the solution, it has to work without me being able to use the screen to e.g. enable bluetooth

Unless the touch screen works but the screen is just not displaying.

So I guess the first part is - how do I get the screen to output to another device using some micro USB to HDMI cable? Can it be done without accessing any android settings?

Do you by chance have USB debugging on?

HDMI should work via slimport, but I think you need to enable that in settings when plugged in.

I don't think I did have USB debugging on, had no need.. didn't root the device as I was expecting timely OTA updates.

I suppose you can try to see if the digitizer still works by calling the phone and attempting to answer by swiping where you normally swipe.

Else, you might be out of luck unless someone else has an idea I haven't thought of.

Yes, hope the mouse and HDMI out work.
Would like to know how you go on with that/this?
Is touch input still working even if vision isn't?
