Will be watching this with interest, a dual boot option would probably be enough to see me retire the m7 in favor of an m8

How easy would it be to dual boot an M8 with android and windows? Could it be done with a current M8? I assume you would need to be S-Off as well. The different camera might be a sticking point but I assume the drivers would be at firmware level.

Rumours this morning are that that both versions use identical hardware, in fact someone on XDA even suggested they are both using same bootloader so who knows :)

I imagine nothing of substance will come to light until the dev's have had a play but could be promising

4.4.3 was available when I checked a workmates Vodafone M8 yesterday, no idea how long it's been waiting.

Updates baseband, firmware and various other bits & pieces.

Fellow M8 owners, just wondering how reliable is the Motion Launch to wake up screen on your M8?

Just noticed since the 4.4.3 update, mine has become extremely unreliable.

If I left the phone untouched for a while and then tried to use one of the gestures to wake up the screen, it doesn't work. Gesture to go straight to camera seems to work fine though.

Anyone else experiencing same issue?

Desire 820 has launched but I'm still looking at the HTC One M8 and whether Spark/Vodafone/2 Degrees are going to flag the idea of bringing the Desire 820 in lieu of waiting for the HTC One M8 successor to appear. One of the things that frustrates me about being in NZ is the lag time between product launch and availability.

I forgot to back up the radio of my (SparkNZ) HTC One M8; I'm running the Google Play edition software on it. No LTE now :( lol.

If anyone has received an OTA, can you pull it from your device and upload it somewhere? I would like to extract the radio from it. If you've got fastboot, 'fastboot getvar all' and scrub the IMEI/serial as well, please!

Thanks in advance to any kind hacker.

edit: May have found a suitable radio.

I have to admit when I had my old HTC One M7 I was always tempted to install a Google Play Edition ROM but in all honesty HTC doesn't butcher their Android as much as Samsung does so the incentive for me was never really worth the hassle and possibility of bricking my phone.

GPe on the M8 is the only way to get DuoCam + BoomSound + MotionWake, etc, as well as Dot View and some other HTC compatibility I'm sure I haven't discovered yet. The DuoCam is just way too good to pass up, and I'm no fan of Sense, even Sense6.

I usually run Stock-ish firmwares (CM typically) but this is fine.

I managed to get everything working again by using the WWE Dev radio, and got a lovely LTE signal while walking around this afternoon. Brilliant device, although I hear sales have not done so well.

Has anyone come across this problem?

I tried to do a software update OTA in August, and it ended up being stuck on the HTC splash screen.

Took it to the repair centre and got the ROM reinstalled.

Today I was prompted for another software update, and hello, the same problem.

I am beginning to think something is wrong from a hardware point of view that is causing the update to fail?

OTAs won't work unless you're 100% stock, locked back to factory CID/MID and recovery.

Between this one and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact for me. This M8 is qUite a tall phone but given the size and quality of the front facing speakers I can understand and appreciate it, they do sound so so good. Quite a beautiful design, very very well put together phone. Top job HTC.
