Quick questions -
Just to clarify this in my head. Why do Vodafone still sell the 900f version when they are using the 700 band? Is it correct to think that these phones with multi band support can work on all the networks but they won't be optimised for best performance besides that specific carrier network? So unbranded parallel imported ones will also work but won't be optimised for any particular network?

Buying a parallel imported unit the chances are very good that it will work on the networks they say it will. However be aware that updates are as per the carrier and country of origin and the user experience may not be the same as for a device purchased from a NZ carrier and used on that network. You may find performance levels below spec.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S5 Duos Dual Sim. Link below.

I find it works great on both networks. Signal strength seems better, than when I was using individual phones purchase from 2Degrees/Spark Stores. This is probably just better technology.

I'd be interested to know what Vodafone and Spark etc do to there phones to make them work better on their networks? I can't see how purchasing from a carrier, would the phone work any better on their network? Other than branding on the phone or the boot screen.

I do understand if any problems arise, it's easier to sort out, if the phone was purchased from the carrier.

On the signal strength. I travel around the bottom of the South Island and have both Spark and 2Degrees Sims. When either carrier fails to get a signal, 70% of the time Spark has a signal 2Degrees does not, 30% of the time 2Degrees has a signal, Spark does not. I find Spark better but there is areas 2Degrees only works.

Not all mobile networks are configured the same and handsets have different features enabled example fast dormancy and then HD voice and more
