Hi everyone,


I just got a dual SIM HK version SM-G9550 (4G/64GB) S8+ in coral blue on VFNZ and noticed that 4G+ only works in certain areas, e.g. Auckland CBD at Custom St.


Could this be to do with CSC not 100% compatible with the network?



@mrgsm021 VodafoneNZ supports inband and out of band 4G CA @sbiddle and I were speaking about this the other day so wrong handset software and CA will not work as expected

Yes for sure as the handset is not running software tested and approved by VodafoneNZ

Upgrade time - went from an iPhone 6s Plus to a Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus - got a nice flip/wallet style case for it. Everything is going well along with it synchronising smoothly with my Google custom domain email address. Oh, and I replaced my router with a Google Wifi - great that it is in New Zealand. The house is all meshed out and covered.





Laptop: MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017)
Desktop: iMac (27-inch, 2017)
Smartphone: iPhone XS Max 256GB 'Space Grey'
Additional devices: Unifi Security Gateway, Unifi Switch, Unifi AP AC HD, Unifi Cloud Key

I'm late to the party. I wasn't going to spend $1499 on an S8+....but a visit to the Spark store yesterday revealed I could move from my current plan to a $10 / month cheaper rollover plan...and get an S8+ for only $249. 

Oh....alright then. 

Nice phone. The main thing eating away in the back of my mind was I now have several  VR / 3DVR cameras....and the SGS7 screen doesn't really do them justice in a Gear VR headset. 

I was hoping (haven't tried it yet) the S8+ screen would be a bit less pixelated. 

Anyone tried it? 

I have a VUZE 3D/360VR camera (2 * 4k cameras per each of four sides) and a Lucid 180 degree 3D VR camera....and a Gear 360. 

So I want the best I can get short of dropping a money bomb to go Oculus Rift.

Anyone else having any random lag issues? I've been a Nexus/Pixel user but have found the S8+ to be the first non "Google" phone that has been performing flawlessly for several months. However, in the last week or so, the phone has been randomly hanging for several seconds before becoming responsive again. It's happening regardless of what screen I'm on. Happens at the lockscreen or even when the screen is off (trying to unlock with fingerprint). It hangs for a few seconds then just comes right. No new apps etc have been installed in the last week but it could have been caused by some app update I guess. Anyone else encountering similar?

No such issues here on the + and had since release date. Maybe an app has gone rogue for some reason?

I was and found that the Bixby button remap app I installed when I first got the phone was the cause of the problem. Uninstalled that and all back to normal.

The issue I had was the battery life avalanched from about 2% per hour to 10. The problem seemed to be the update to the antivirus app (Avast) I had installed since new. Removed, and back to normal.
Interesting about the Bixby remapper, which one?

Hmm...yea I use the bxactions app to remap the button and have been using it since pretty much May. I have just turned it off now. Will see how today goes...will uninstall and test if required. Thanks!

I've been using Bixby Button Remapper without issue (both in terms of it working, and the rest of phone working) for ~2 months (despite recent updates to Bixby etc).

Thanks. Yea I've been using it for several months without any issues. However, I just turned it off and the intermittent hanging seems to have stopped. Strange. Will see if I can revert to an older version or test again after they release another update. Happy for now since the phone is smooth again.

Yep. Same issues as you mentioned. It's happening on 3 other devices of S8 for my mates and started free weeks back after the update. You will notice the finger print scanning being very slow to start with.
