I haven't personally got the update yet, but this update seems to have some polarising results for many users.

People on reddit are complaining about Twitter and Nova crashing/freezing, sluggish performance and battery drain with the ASE5 update. Somehow it's 50/50 now.

I am getting really good standby time on ASD4 so if ASE5 is going to be an issue with battery drain then I'd be hesitant to install it..

Well to be fair not everyone have problems with the May update.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

When I had the S10 I tweaked every setting to get the most battery life and I saw the battery drain in front of me.

I got the S10+ and I left it alone, everyone on, everything set to auto, and the battery does not drain!

In summary, let the Samsung One UI do its thing, leave it alone it knows what it's doing!

i was sick for a couple of days so s10+ usage was not my usual. managed 2 days and 20 hours with 18 hours screen time in that time, so battery drain not an issue..

Has anyone taken off their factory screen protector. I've got a scratch on the protector. (Not sure how), thinking of just taking it off & going without one. Just wanting to know if anyones been brave enough to go that route.

I have not taken mine off my S10+ yet. It's getting a bit scratched but not annoying enough so far. My previous 3 phones (2 Sony Ericsson and a Google Pixel XL) didn't have screen protectors though.

Mine is still on. I forget it's there. Has some Nicks and scratches but overall still good. Edges haven't peeled back.

I took mine off just so I could apply the Whitestone Dome Glass screen protector on it.

Mine was inside a clear view wallet style cover and the plastic on plastic action scratched the factory screen protector pretty quickly, so I took it off. I have since changed to a 'leather' full cover so happy to leave the screen 'nude'.

Haven't used a screen protector on my last four phones.

News are reporting that Samsung has pulled the update and they're only rolling out the security patch without the extra improved features.

Is there any forum to ask 2degrees when they'll roll out the fixed ASE6 firmware for the S10?

It's really best to ask Samsung these questions, even if the answer is "When HQ get to it in the queue." Small market + per-telco software builds = not being the absolute #1 global priority for fairly understandable reasons.

Samsung roll out the OTAs, it is up to them to provide the NZ telcos with the software for certification prior to release, and it goes back to Samsung to release once that certification is obtained - usually just a couple of days at the telcos' ends. If software needs to be rebuilt because another region found a bug, it needs to go through the local testing again. This is for the likes of emergency calling and broadcasts. Thankfully the customisations made for the NZ market are minor and in the scheme of things we don't do too badly for OTA rollouts these days, but sooner is always more desirable* eh?

*For enthusiasts, less so for the average punter who just wants their phone to work and hates updates with a violent burning passion thanks to Microsoft circa XP.

Ta much for the informative reply. When I bought my P30 Pro, your staff at PBTech Wellington were super and very helpful. Sadly Huawei isn't such a good choice nowadays, and the P30 Pro camera has so much potential but often requires lots of work processing the photos in Lightroom to make them pleasant.

I ended up flashing ASE6 via Odin, no wipe needed.

If anyone's interested:
- Take out your simcard and power off.
- Download the Frija tool from XDA, enter SM-G973F as the model number, and AUT as CSC (not your real one - e.g. mine was NZC).
- Download ASE6 (about 4GB), unzip.
- Press vol down + bixby, then plug in the USB cable while holding the buttons for 10 sec.
- Use Odin to flash, make sure you select HOME_CSC file for the CSC option.
- After first boot up, put your simcard back in.

ASE6 has some nice camera improvements for night mode and live focus.

Although I would ultimately prefer that updates be globally synchronised, Samsung deserves enormous credit for making it easy to sideload and change regions should folks get impatient, especially when other brands are getting more and more locked down.
