I have an edge threatening to peel after a week of ownership!

Looks like I will need to get a 3rd party one sooner rather than later...

Any number of 2-3 packs on Amazon.com seem to be up to the task, so will order something soon

So I got a custom "Invisible Shield" done at Lynmall.

Its fine - not as smooth as I would like, but should keep the minor scratches at bay and it comes with a lifetime guarantee so I can get a re-apply when it inevitable starts to peel off.

Also! I have been pleasantly surprised at how well the in-screen finger print reader works. Fast and reliable IME - more so than I was expecting.

picked a new S10 plus up from 2 degrees saturday. They put screen proctor on and Sunday it had lifted and bubbled. Yesterday was out so called in to omnitech. $30  later new screen proctor fitted. Today it has lifted.  Guess will have to leave it with none and look for a slim wallet type case to help protect screen.

SO I still can't find any evidence of testing a 1Tb SD in the S10+ 512Gb model...

The Samsung UK page has 512Gb as the limit for external cards, but I wonder if this actually the case and it is somehow artificially limited or whether it just hadn't been tested with commercially available 1Tb cards when the list was made???

Anyone got any ideas?

Until the full testing has been completed they can't start that it is 100% compatible.

My S2 had a capacity limit of 64gb when I purchased it and I used my 128gb in it perfectly fine.

The hardware limitation on Micro SD is 2tb (has been since the S7)

As a new owner of a S10+ (thanks to insurance replacing my broken OnePlus 6 with this on Monday) I'm getting used to using my first Samsung phone in many years, and I'm generally really happy - One UI is a vast improvement on TouchWiz (not least in terms of name!), and the phone quality is fantastic, especially that screen.

There are, however, two areas I've not managed to find a solution to, so hoped someone here could help out if they had any ideas:

Notifications on the lock screen - despite ages spent reading and fidding with settings, I can't work out how to have notifications wake up the screen to display them automatically so I can just glance at the phone. Best I've managed is having only the relevant app's icon appearing on the screen (and then having to tap the screen to view the notification) , but that's only if the 'always on' display is set to be always on! Similarly, have had no luck getting edge lighting to work, but assume this is tied up with the same wider notifications problem. What could be wrong here? (Note: I do have a Galaxy watch, but the same problem persists even when watch notifications are fully switched off.)

Camera - noting the lack of resolution control with Samsung's app, what's the best means by which to gain this control? A completely different camera app? I'd been running GCam on my OnePlus (a similar lack of resolution control on its native app), but I've read that the Exynos version of this requires three different apps, which isn't a practical solution.

Finally - regarding screen resolution: are most people running the phone at full res, and if so does this have a significant impact on battery life? I'm happy provided I get through the day without needing to charge, and would rather make the most of the higher resolution.

Thanks in advance.

Running mine full res and still have plenty of juice left when I go to bed.

TBH I am hard pushed to see the difference between them in every day usage, but I like to know I am using the think to its full potential and it does mean I use 1440p on YouTube where available.

Notifications best way is to get on galaxy watch(i have 42 mm galaxy watch) as can glance and read if you want can scroll down to see all message or go to phone and read them set up what notifications you want to get in wearable app on phone. Also good lock app for phone from samsung has noti star which will show what apps you select to show on lock screen but you still to press button if no always on display on.

Thanks for the feedback.

Notifications - the bizarre thing is that when I got home yesterday the notifications (including edge lighting) started working; I'd made no further changes, so no idea as to why this happened. Frustrating not being able to get more detail on the lock screen without tapping (and I have the lock screen to show 'detailed' not just ''brief'), but if that's the deal...(is there no third-party app that deals to this?)

I do have a smart watch (a Galaxy), and already get notifications on that. That said, given I'm at a computer much of the day it's less hassle to take a glance at my phone sitting right in front of me than to pull back my sleeve to check my watch. First-world problems for sure!

I'm also going to try leaving it on the highest resolution, as the battery managed to get through the day yesterday ok; for every-day use the difference doesn't seem significant - even in mid-res the screen looks great. (Similarly, I'm surprised at the speaker's sound quality ; while not a substitute for a decent speaker of any kind, they're far better than any other phone I've had - and the stereo speakers make such a difference when watching video - I couldn't ever be bothered watching Netflix etc on a phone, but this may yet convert me.)

Still haven't put a screen protector on, given the many reports on how hard it is to do so with the curved screen; JB supplied one - an Invisible Shield, which I assume is the same one that is reported above as working well. @Item - any tips as to how go about fitting this? Any videos or sites you found particularly helpful? Thanks!

No recommendations on how best to deal with the camera resolution thing? I've currently gone down the route of installing a second (and basic) camera app, set to a low/mid resolution - it's useful to have this if taking photos for a specific purpose that doesn't need/can't deal with large image size (TradeMe, Geekzone...).

Note 9, but i imagine it is similar; is this what you are looking for: Camera app > Settings > Rear (or Front if you are inclined that way) Picture Size:

Thanks for that ShinyChrome - I wish it was there, but sadly that's a feature they've removed from the camera apps for the S10 series; there's the ability to set resolution for video but not photos, which is such a backward step. (The image choice is solely around ratio, as selectable from the main camera screen.)

I noticed also I've not been getting email notifications until waking up the phone; this seems to be fixed by the same solution as I used to fix Spotify stopping playing soon as the screen went off, in terms of setting Gmail to not be optimised in relation to battery usage. Having done this test emails have come through pretty quickly, but while I got the notification on my watch there was nothing on the phone, so lock screen notifications continue to be dodgy. WTH?!

It's weird that apps as obvious as these two wouldn't be set this way by default, given it's an issue that's likely to confound and frustrate many users. Reminds me of the overly aggressive battery management of my old Huawei Mate, which I thought I'd put well behind me...

I got the guy in the mall to do it as I am obsessed with ensuring that my screen protectors are completely bubble/dust/crease free and absolutely straight...and I suck at doing it myself!

The Invisible shield should be a wet apply and I would recommend doing it in your bathroom after a very hot shower or bath as that way there is far less airborne dust and crud and the extra humidity should make it easier to make small adjustments after application to get it right.

All that said, I am sad to say that in the last 12 hours or so, my invisible shield is starting to show a few signs of lifting/peeling which is very annoying. It does have a lifetime guarantee, so I can always go back and do it again for free, but these don't seem to be as good as glass ones.

If they do release a glass one which is unequivocally and seamlessly compatible with the finger scanner, I will definitely be getting one
