Just went to manually check updates on my S10 (Vodafone) and it's downloading now.

I have moved to the apple-side but will still be supporting Mrs Shindig S10+!

Thanks for the heads-up; downloading it now on a 2D S10+. I’d checked in the weekend but no dice then.

Good to see the venerable old S10 is still getting some love. (Installing now)

I hope that supporting Android devices for this long becomes the norm; I’d have to make up a reason to get a new phone (or perhaps destroy my current one) as my S10 does everything I need it to. Sure, I see the high refresh rates of new screens, and would love the camera of the S22 Ultra (100x zoom that is actually usable in some circs) but there’s nothing critical. A win for my wallet and the environment.

Well, here's an upside of the move to Android 12 - the long-term problem I've had with VoLTE not working on my S10+ with Kogan Mobile is finally over. Noticed this morning have the VoLTE symbol displaying, so that's great to have sorted...

Whilst VoLTE has been working for a number of months with my S10+ on 2D, there's been no actual VoLTE toggle switch under Mobile Networks settings until this update. Not that I'm likely to switch it off, but at least I can should I need to troubleshoot in the future.

Cheers; yeah, I'd read that Samsung had moved to provide four upgrades for recent flagships, and that's great. I am happy with how Samsung has supported the S10 range - and that it's improved further for newer models is great; what I'm hoping is that other manufacturers can move towards providing OS upgrades for a similar length.

IMO the justification for many if not most phone upgrades is negligible - it's often driven more by 'wants' than 'needs' - and any move that can contribute to minimising the reasons for needing to change phones is a good thing. Of course, this isn't in any seller's interests given it'll mean fewer sales.

Huh, I had the opposite problem! I've always had the switch visible (and able to be 'turned on'), just no VoLTE actually working. Good to see both of us have had our issues sorted...

My VNZ S10+ was pushed the Android 12/One UI 4 update overnight and received the February security update immediately afterwards.

Question to S10/S10e owners - would you still buy one today new for $560-650 (depending on whether it's S10e or S10) if you wanted to avoid these massive phablets that have become the norm?

As a non-phone-gamer I can't see the point in any of the specs on more recent phones (including the extra pixels above 1920 in fullHD 1080p and length bulging out of your pocket), except for better photography (as opposed to more gimmicks photography).

Sub 6" there's the Pixel 5 or Zenfone 8 not supported by NZ networks sadly... and that seems to be it??

I'm on a Meizu 15 4gb/64gb which has been excellent, amazing value for money, camera pretty good in its day but a bit inferior to S10, but battery starting to wane.

It sounds like your experience of S10 or S10e is still all good ?

I don't think I'd pay more than $500 for another S10e, but that's mainly due to it being in its last year of software updates. Apart from that, I still love my S10e and have very few complaints, e.g. battery life could be better, but my phone is now 2.5 years old.

What makes you think the Zenfone 8 isn't supported by NZ networks? You can buy these phones through Parallel Imported here in NZ or you could buy direct from Dick Smiths. Pretty sure there's nothing stopping it from working with any NZ mobile SIM. If I had to buy another phone today I would probably go with the Zenfone 8.

Thanks for the advice - sorry what i meant by nz networks is the volte compatibility issue. Not a problem where there is 2G/3G around and if 3G doesnt get switched off i suppose. The Meizu i have was PBTech but clearly missing some NZ 3G/4G bands compared to other phones, don't really want that type of issue again. Samsung is safe in this regard.
