Or you could just check ........... Gear S3, ...........

You forgot the biggest feature, it's all screen, sadly with a hole in it for the camera but still, it's the closest to 100% for any phone released so far.

Add to that:
- it's faster
- more RAM
- comes with a newer version of Android, plus one UI from Sammy
- the OLED screen is brighter and HDR certified
- bigger battery (3,400 v 3,000)

I really wished they increased the cable charging speed, these days their fast charging looks dam slow.
Sounds like the 5g s10 will be coming with better cable charging (25 watts).

Wow; that iPhone is well out there in front on the tests. I don't suppose it makes a lot of difference in actual normal use though.

The VW Group diesel emissions figures were pretty impressive too! π

All good points, but I'm trying to justify it from a utility perspective. So for I haven't found myself saying, "I wish my phone was faster" (no lag or stutter evident) or it seems to be running out of ram. To me those are just spec sheet numbers.
I was under the impression the S8 was getting Android9/1UI. But that could be sometime between now and never with Samsung's track record on updates. The S10 should be good through to Android 11.
A brighter screen is a bonus but I watch HDR content on my OLED TV.
A bigger battery is always better but I usually end the day with about 50% remaining anyway. Probably due to viewing a lot of things on my watch instead.
It will probably come down to whether I want a shiny new toy or not but it's nice to have some justification π.
Fair points - I have the S7, so the upgrade decision is pretty straightforward, whereas with the previous S8 and S9 there wasn't enough in either of these to compel me to upgrade.
Geektastic: I was looking at a review and came to the conclusion it would have been amazing if they'd just not bothered with front cameras at all.
Personally I'd take the aesthetic improvement over a selfie camera any day.
(If they didn't include a selfie camera, they wouldn't sell to any millennials).
Personally, I much prefer the new punch-hole to a notch or tear drop. And definitely preferable to a pop up selfie camera (like the Oppo Find X) which just an unnecessarily technical malfunction waiting to happen.
